Was Juliet telling the truth when she told Sawyer they were building a runway? If so, why would the Others want a runway? Seems like its pretty hard to get to this island, with the sub being the only reliable way to do so (so far any other ways involved crashing) so its seems weird that they'd even be able to land planes there, and why would they even want to...wouldn't having planes coming and going just draw attention to the island, when that's the last thing Ben would want? The sub is a pretty secret way to get there... planes traveling there would just be harder to hide from outside eyes. Thoughts?

I believe it was a joke, she said it was for the "Aliens".

I knew the alien part was a joke, but I wasn't sure if the runway itself was true. Although now that you mention it again, it all was probably a joke...seeing as how they have no reason for a runway...

I know it was a throwaway line, however what if there was a ring of truth to it? Google "Ummo" and especially take a look at the Ummo symbol - which is identical to the brand they put on Juliet's back!

I think she may be telling the truth. I noticed Ben uses the same tactic, he tells you something so outrageous that you discount it. Which is what he really wants you to do.

We know they did revied food drops. so thats either from a plane or from a helicopter. maybe they are opening an inter island hopper flight to save time. like in hawaii

good job, queen! I just rewatched the episode, and she says its a runway, then says the joke about the aliens, and then says she's kidding and that she doesn't know what the runway would be for. So it certainly seems like, as far as she is concerned, it was going to be a runway. Of course, Ben could have just told them it was going to be a runway...

just had a thought...she may have been meaning, just kidding, I don't know what we were digging rocks for...so now I'm back to thinking the runway comment itself may have been a joke, too...argh!!!

maybe she was telling the turth about the runway and the aliens.
