Desmond David Hume

Desmond David Hume was the lone resident of the Swan at the time of the Flight 815 crash. He was discovered by Locke, Kate and Jack a month later after they had blown open Hatch. After his failed attempts to leave the Island, Desmond joined the camp of survivors. Following the destruction of the Swan, Desmond gained a mysterious ability to see flashes of the future, with which he predicted Charlie's imminent death.

Post Thmes in the ending

Anyone else think the end of the episode was very...surreal and almost something you'd see out of a novel? The characters try so hard to escape and in the end they're begging to go back. The island in all its hostility and mystery is still a paradise compared to the lives the survivors once had and go back to. People only want what they can't have, which in this case was being rescued...maybe ben was right?

I was gonna say something but I forgot =/

Well I was thinking about what Ben had said to Jack, "What do you have back at your home?" or something along that.

If you think about it, all the survivors have been on that island for a long time. For the first few days everyone was expecting to get rescued, but no one showed up. Everyone had to get used and adapt to the island, if no one was showing up, they have to start living there. I'm sure a lot of people would begin to forget about going home, the island was the new home, Jack switching back to L.A. was like him crashing on the island (this is all my opinion) he hasn't gotten used to being in a city, with his job back etc.

SOrry if that sounds weird I'm not very good at telling my opinion

We know Jack, Kate and some guy J____ left the island - what if they left people behind? Maybe forced to leave against their will?

Jack would feel like he has to save them, and even Kate didn't look too happy in the future, but being a realist she just tries to move on with her life.

I think that the title "Through the looking glass" fit perfectly. Alice in Wonderland went through the world of imaginary and had to find a way back to reality, which mirrors what we see with Lost. Jack desperately wants to go back to his "Wonderland" and Kate is satisfied with getting through the looking glass.
