 Benjamin "Ben" Linus
Benjamin "Ben" Linus is the leader of the Others on the Island. Ben arrived on the Island as a child, brought by his father Roger to work for the DHARMA Initiative. Ben takes orders from Jacob, and is the only person who visits and speaks with him. Ben's apparent goal is to keep the Island and its special properties secret from the outside world, and he goes to great lengths to achieve this.

So after seven episodes of season 4 does anyone have any new ideas about who is in the coffin?
Since we saw Ben in Sayid's flashforward does that rule Ben out?
maybe Sayids FF take place before Jacks FF
My bet is that it is Michael.
We saw in "Ji Yeon" that Michael is using the alias Kevin Johnson so it could be another alias in the newspaper clipping.

Well, it would have to be an alias that Jack and Kate would immediately recognize without a doubt.

TGimace came up with a very interesting idea. The idea was that in the newspaper clipping the name Kevin Johnson was spelled surname first. (Johnson,Kevin) I thought it made a lot of sense. This conversation can be seen in the thread "Oceanic 6" under "General Lost Discussion"

I think it is Michael, but I thought according to the obituary the name was something like: Jo[.. ..]antham
But good point. the Jo could be the beginning of Johnson.

That would be a cheap trick to introduce a new character and then have it conveniently be the guy in the coffin. I'm going to stick to my original theory that it's Ben. I don't think Sayid's flashforward changes anything. I do, however, think that we will come to see Ben's value in the world and will come to feel the distraught over his death just as Jack does in the funeral scene. Not because we feel that he is redeemed somehow or a "good guy" but because his purpose is necessary to some bigger purpose than we understand yet. |
