They weren't the instigators in the feud between the Others and themselves.

Rambo didn't draw first blood, and neither did the Losties.

If you don't want a fat lip, then don't initiate a fight and punch someone else in the nose.

The Others were up to over 40 murdered BEFORE the Losties ever arrived. Not entirely "good", now are they?

I am more prone to be sympathetic with the Losties at this point than with any other faction.

I've got a feeling its James in the coffin, Kate and Sawyer must have fallen out and she doesnt want to go to the funeral. Sawyer was a loner, so no friends or family, did he grow up in New York though?

No way! Kate knows that deep down Sawyer is a creampuff and a sweet guy. They have a real connection. She would show up to his funeral not matter what kind of falling out they might have, ESPECIALLY if she had hsi baby. It can't be Sawyer in the coffin. If it is, Damon and Carlton are in for the noogie of their life. And maybe even an Indian burn. Harrumph!

A lot of people have been saying that one of the clues is the fact that Jack was visibly upset over this persons death. I don't think that he is upset that this person died. I think he's upset that he can't go back and finish whatever he needs to finish.

I believe the person in the closed casket in last year's finale is Michael (I know alot of people feel that way.) Here's why....

We already know Episode 8 is about Michael and we have been told we are going to learn who was in the coffin this season.

So, I'm thinking that in Episode 7 Michael will make an appearance at the end of the show, leading us up to Episode 8 about him. The flash forward will show either his death or his funeral and link it to Jack's flash forward from last year.

I also think that Michael's return to LOST is gonna be short lived.

We'll see what happens...

Jack seemed upset and since we now know Kate has Aaron, I think perhaps it was Claire in the coffin. I don't think Jack would be upset if it had been Ben or Locke. The coffin was too small for a man.

but again, kate said "why would i go?" meaning to the funeral. she said it in a way like, she didn't really know or like the person or the person in the coffin did not merit her presence at the funeral. i don't think sawyer, claire fit that bill.

that narrows it down to michael or ben. people that she possibly hates.
