Desmond David Hume
Desmond David Hume was the lone resident of the Swan at the time of the Flight 815 crash. He was discovered by Locke, Kate and Jack a month later after they had blown open Hatch. After his failed attempts to leave the Island, Desmond joined the camp of survivors. Following the destruction of the Swan, Desmond gained a mysterious ability to see flashes of the future, with which he predicted Charlie's imminent death.

A Dynamite Plan?
Sure that Ben's change with the timing necessitated a kind of fight-back that made Jack's previous plan of setting dynamite tents look 'just the thing'-but I think this dynamite welcome was not a good plan in the first place.
Obviously, something needed to be figured out for self-defense by the time those 10 tough guys come up, but 1) Jack's plan is a little too aggressive especially when considered that Losties won't even be able to get to the whole 'hive'. Many of the Others, including their leader-types like Ben, and Richard will remain unharmed from the immediate clash, since they won't even be there. And they would be tremendously upset, to say the least. 2) That could only mean further marginalization and frustration between the groups, since Ben would not be all too pleased when he gets to hear about the means and extent of Losties fight-back..
So the blow-up plan doesn't look all great and effective to me, but sure that Losties need to protect the women and all, and a few guns won't do the thing this time. Perhaps not a decision or plan altogether fantastic, but I'm looking forward to all the tension and drama it's to cause next week..and season! I think it will change things between Others and Losties on a dramatic scale. What do you think?

I think the dynamite plan is too simple in nature, and probably not as effective for the long term damage inflicted on the enemy. Yeah it makes a nice big "BOOM" sound, and maybe a few of the others will get blown to smitherines, but overall it will do nothing. This is where I get irritated with the Jack dynamic. Why did he keep such a huge undertaking a secret until he was outed? Why wasn't Sayid brought into this from the beginning? He is the only one who has really been a warrior of this type, and he would have a lot of needed knowledge to add to the planning and execution. If it were me, I would have taken this battle to the "Others"..... hit them on their own soil unexpectedly. Specifically target their leaders (ben, richard,) and either capture them or kill them. Once you hit them like that it would throw them into chaos and keep them from coming after you in the middle of the night. I think you are right, this will change everything...just as the promo promises.

I remember Lost in Hazzard's suggestion about having Sayid and Sawyer, waiting armed and ready in the tents. Not only I still think it's hilarious, but after a bit of work and change in plans (considering others are coming quite crowded this time), it'd turn into a plan definitely more feasible & beneficial than dynamites.

Why thank you I think the dynamite is a bit overkill. It would only be effective if all of the Others are standing together outside the tents and if all of our snipers shoot the dynamite at the same time. And it is odd that Jack decided to keep this all to himself until he decided what he was going to do about it. Bizarre. Why not have a meeting with Sawyer, Sayid and Kate and figure out what to do together? In the previews Ben confronts Jack. So he knows where they are headed? And is there waiting? Juliet is an evil beast?

I have the same questions, especially about Sayyid. He definitely has the knowledge and first hand experience to plan and run a fight-back this style and yet Jack decides to keep it all to himself and work on it with Juliette and Rousseau only. And again for the same knowledge and experience advantage Sayid has over Jack, I thought Sayid would say a word or two about this 'excellent' plan of Doc.

Stop giving things away from the previews, it's completely unnecessary, harsh and uncalled for. Don't do it.

Sorry Integrated but in my opinion the publicly televised previews that are played as commercials during the week are fair game for discussion. They are not "spoilers". If you are that sensitive about it, a public forum may not be where you want to be.

I'm with you, Frogmeister - if it's been aired on television, I don't think we have to put it in spoiler boxes. The Official ABC Lost guys feel it's okay for us to see these littler teasers for the following week - if you choose to not watch the previews, then I'm still with you, Frog - a public forum might not be the place to be. That's what is going to happen on public boards - we theorize about next week according to what's happened in the show and what sneak peeks they've given us to pique our interest. That is what's called for and necessary on theses types of forums for open dialogue - it is NOT unusually harsh (Does that mean we should not theorize or speculate, because someone might accidently guess correctly?)
