Kate Austen
Kate Austen is one of the middle section survivors of Oceanic Flight 815. Kate is a fugitive, and was being pursued by Marshal Mars prior to the flight, for blowing up her father. Kate had been captured in Australia and was being escorted back to the United States before the crash. Kate has always seemed to run away from her past. Even on the Island, Kate exhibits a kind of evasive behavior to escape from her problems. Kate, when on the run, always had good intentions and never did any outright harm or killings to anybody, she believed she was doing things for the greater benefit of others. This view is prominently connected with her actions of her father's murder - she believed she was relieving her mother from his abusive presence. Kate is strong-willed, useful and clever, but dislikes being alone and is usually level-headed.
She has escaped from the captivity of the Others with Sawyer, and has formed an ambiguous romantic relationship with him, despite still being unsure about her feelings for Jack.

Richard had a gun???
I was checking out some screencaps and it looks like when he meets young Ben Linus in the jungle he had a holster and gun around his waist.. I have included a link to the screencap..
I thought it might bring up some intresting questions..

Exactly Wednighter- at the decoy village by the Pala Ferry. Living in huts, no shoes, raggedy clothes - but why would Tom, Bea, and even Ben when he arrives on the dock still be wearing that style of clothing if Richard and Ben were working together? Remember when Ben killed his dad, and Richard's gang gassed the Dharma-tes Richard was wearing normal L.L. Bean clothes, not the raggedy ones. So... I don't get what's with the clothing swap?
Look weak for whom, Fate? (oh, you me pre-purge Richard-group) But why KEEP dressing like that in a decoy village? Did they set that whole thing up just to get Walt. Why do you even need a decoy village? Unless they went to the local Dharma-mart why would they just happen to have false beards?

I think that when 815 crashed there was a possibility in their minds of their being Dharma spies on board, checking to see if the Hostiles had indeed taken over the Island. This might even be the case, do we know for sure the entire backstory of all the survivors? NOPE.
So...if they acted the hillbilly role before the Purge, they might just do it again, to ensure the Losties wouldn't become aware of their level of sophistication. Whatever they are hiding must be huge for them to go such lengths. I bet the answer is at .

Frank: No, the worst.
