Did she die with everybody else in the Dharma compound?
Is her body lying in the open grave with the others?

Or do you think Ben and the other Hostiles spared her life?

annie is a new character, we don't know what happened to her yet. But my guess is we will find out. Ben still looks at that doll she made for him, that's gotta count for something.

I'm wondering if he got her pregnant, she died, and that set him off.

Yeah I think there is more to the Ben and Annie story. I hope we get to hear it before the series ends. Actually I hope we get to it before this season ends but I'm not gonna hold my breath.
One thing to keep in mind is this. When he first met long haired Richard in the jungle he told him that he hated the Dharma place and wanted Richard to take him away. He didn't say: "Well there is this girl Annie that I like, but everything else sucks." He just said he hated it all. So either he didn't care that much for Annie or at that point she was already gone.

Whether she died in the purge, or died in childbirth - I think the Ben doll that Annie made was probably buried with her since Ben only has the Annie doll. Official Lost said that Ben had been in love - so I figure it was Annie. I don't know if it was a first crush kind of love between kids, or if Annie survived and she and Ben were married - we all assumed the portrait on Ben's wall was his mother (or Karen DeGroot) but maybe instead it was Annie - Ben loved Bunnies; Annie loved Hamsters.

Perhaps, Annie was Ben's personal sacrifice for the island-what if he tried to find a way out for Annie and Richard gave one his psychedelic mambo-jambo speeches of will and patience and made Ben make the sacrifice.
