Nikki Fernandez
Nikki Fernandez was one of the middle section survivors from Flight 815 and is first introduced in "Further Instructions". She had spent most of her time on the island trying to recover the $8 million diamonds she and Paulo had stolen from Zukerman, her staged lover, before the crash. She received a Medusa spider bite that induced a deathlike paralysis and she died after being buried alive alongside Paulo.

Good post Copin and Wednighter, I was going along those same lines.
Scientists say we only use a small percentage of our brains, it seems to change, but it's always less that 20%. What if humans were a direct evolutionary result of a cause being the island. What I mean is, the island is a central point for all of the universe, or multiverse, but it's properties are so tightly woven into a small area, that they seem magical. Evolution on earth would presume that regular mammals, and the predominant species before us, dinosaurs, are not equipped with the capacity of understanding that the human mind can be extended too... does this make sense.
The dinosaurs died off rather quickly in terms of space time, because they could not calculate how to change with their world, but a human can, after some period of evolution. I believe the island was probably not supposed to be found yet, and now Ben wants people to have children there because their minds would then be able to use 100% of the brain capacity because on this island their is no boundary. Or maybe, we have descended through evolution for the purpose of finding this island, and therefore creating a race of people who can do anything that can be imagined.
Sorry, it's kind of hard to explain my own thougts here, but to me, it seems the island is the nexus of everything, all of the multiverse meeting one area, and people cannot be told what the island is, because they cannot comprehend it, but if we were to have children born on this place, no, CONCIEVED here, then those children would have the capacity to understand everything. I believe, like the philosopher John Locke said, "If there isn't a God, then we must create him" and here is the area to do just that.

Well something like that. If we were able to use our brain to its full capacity (which scientists have stated this will take years of evolution to do so) certain limits can be breached and we can do magnificent things. Let’s say the island can increased our brains capacity of use. Maybe this can explain why certain strange things are happening in the island and it’s still scientifically plausible. I mean if the island can increase a humans healing process and sperm count then why not the human brain capacity. After all it is the unconsciousness brain that sends messages to our organs which signals them to begin the healing process!

right Copin, it's like the island can create X-men... Wolverine heals quickly, more quickly than say Locke, but perhaps a child born here would be practically invincible because of the rate of healing... great work again people...
Hey wait, I just thought of something else. Maybe Ben wants Cooper gone so bad because he sees Cooper as a cancer, a cancer to people and their minds. Like regular cancer not growing here, maybe Ben and the 'Good People' want to erradicate bad thoughts as well. If you are like Sawyer and all you want is revenge, then your thoughts pull in the bad of the outside world, and Ben wants to get rid of all that... I'm guessing Smokey is there for just that reason.. except he allows you to go back and try again, like he seems to have done with Mr Eko!!

This falls into what I mentioned earlier about the creators law. So you are saying the island has its own “creator” because it does not belong the “creator” who created the universe therefore it is not subjected or bound to our universes laws rather than its own law. Meaning the island is in another universe. I understand what you are saying but I believe there is only one creator and what you are saying is that there is two. The island was created by something what was it if it wasn’t the creator that created our universe?
I am with you 100%, like I mentioned before as humans we are unable to understand the “explanation of the beginning of time” because our ideas and imaginations are trapped in laws of its origin(origin meaning our creator) in your words “people cannot be told what the island is, because they cannot comprehend it” we are on the same page here but what I like is how you came up with the possibility that if they were conceived in the island then they are not bound to the laws of our creator rather bound to the creator of the island(free from our universes limits) and now they are able to understand what we can’t. However, in order for this to be plausible the “creator” must allow this to happen as the island has to have a “creator” because there can only be one “creator” not two.
Maybe the island is another dimension, like life after death but before reaching heaven and can only be journeyed through not begin in. So that is why no child can successfully be conceived in the island. However, I think the producers debunked the theory of after-life so I don’t think this is the answer but we are on to something definitely
