Dr. Juliet Burke
Dr. Juliet Burke (née Carlson) is a member of the Others. She seems unhappy with her allegiance (particularly, it seems, with Ben's position of authority), and lives at the Barracks. Juliet is a calm, intelligent woman with a background in medicine, but unhappy with her private life and will do anything to get off the Island. However, it seems Juliet has betrayed her people and joined the survivors in wanting off the island.

Do you agree that it is extraordinary that they would even find the wreckage - because it was not in the path of a flight from Sydney to Los Angeles AND the wreckage was sitting a such a deep depth?
I don't and won't believe that Lost is going to be about Hell or Purgatory for two simple reasons: Ethan and Richard Alpert, especially Richard Alpert. I think the fact that they have apparently come and gone from the island would be WAY TOO MUCH of a stretch if they were somehow able to pass between life and death, do you know what I mean? I think everyone has to be alive, maybe trapped in some kind of time warpy thing, but alive.

Everything points to Penny being the one that sent Naomi, but I say maybe not. Could Cooper actually be telling the truth for once in his miserable life? and Naomi is just a big'O liar?
Cooper's story makes more sense, and he really had no reason to lie because I think he actually believed he was in hell and already dead.
On the other hand if Naomi is going to lie why not say they found it off of Tahiti or Fiji or some other place in the Pacific and enroute to LA? Is it to make us believe her because no one would be stupid enough to lie so bad?

I vacillate between who I believe and who I think is lying for those reasons Folie! Cooper said "Pacific" and he might not be in on the big power play going on between Penny and her father, or the powers that be. AND Pacific makes more sense if you are flying from Sydney to LA. BUT Naomi (who said Bali) has that photo of Desmond and knew his name, and like you said, why would someone get the location of the wreckage SO TERRIBLY off course, if it wasn't true?
BTW - the island of Timor (East or West? I forget) which is right by Bali and Java was a former Portuguese colony - does anyone know anyone who can speak Portuguese?
Flaneuse - I think their stories on closer inspection don't match. Remember that Cooper said his son's plane crashed in the Pacific, but Naomi said they found the wreckage off of Bali, which is in the Timor Sea and is a part of the Indian Ocean.

I have no doubt that whoever coordinated Flight 815 to fly over the specific spot for entrance to the island, had a spare plane ready to be dumped in the ocean to specifically be found by investigators. It's deep enough where a robot can see a plane, perhaps it's call numbers and bodies inside, but too deep to be salvaged, therefore.. investigation over!
We cannot discount the rich guys in the show, specifically Paik and Widmore. Paik's honor is prob hurt since he wouldn't be able to have grandchildren, his daughters infidelity... same for Widmore. I'm thinking now that whoever this Jacob turns out to be, a wizard or not, he probaby has given more power to these guys than they could afford financially... meaning, he demands sacrifices... in the form of your first born OR others. Widmore sends his hated, almost son-in-law, Paik sends his daughter and her sperm free husband.
If we are to believe that Mrs Hawking knows the future as she's shown with Desmond, perhaps Jacob has allowed her to give information to the rich guys in return for favors....
anyone buying this?

there's definitely something rotten about the wreckage being found at that spot, 4 miles deep down the ocean. but it just makes the plane theories more exciting than Hell/Purgatory suggestion.
And actually, I wouldn't mind if there's some time-wrap thing going on that might even bring Libby or Nathan or Eko back. That's my wishful thinking..

I'm with you Flaneuse - the fake plane wreckage, big conspiracy theory is more fun for me as well! It would be too easy and lame to say at the end of 5 years, "Oh, they were all just dead" And if it is a time warp thing, and time is not simply linear, but cyclical or even a chaotic sort of string theory idea - that gives many more fun, exciting possibilities for what can happen.

I concur with Cablerunner - we cannot discount the rich guys on this show. But I am still totally flumoxed about why Naomi would say the flight was CLEAR over by Bali?
Look at the map again and where Fiji and Bali are. Why would Oceanic Flight 815 heading from Sydney, Australia to Los Angeles, USA be clear over by Bali, when the pilot said he was turning around and heading back toward Fiji.
