Ana-Lucia Cortez

Ana-Lucia Cortez was an ex-police officer who sat in the tail section of Flight 815 when it crashed. She took a leadership role in the group and led her party across the Island, reuniting them with the rest of the passengers. Ana was known to be very emotionally cold and her background in policing helped her with her leadership role. Ana-Lucia survived on the Island for 65 days before being shot and killed by Michael.

I understand you put a spoiler warning but I'd already seen the episode so didn't mind, but PLEASE don't give away anything that is going to happen next week, in a preview or not, I think that's really unfair on those of us who don't want to watch previews.

The whole Sawyer Locke Anthony Cooper thing played out how I figured it would from watching the previews, but I was hoping Sawyer wouldn't kill him. Hoping he would show that he had changed and he could just let it go and blah blah blah....but man, after watching Locke's dad, seeing the way he talked to Sawyer, and like yall said just no remorse...I was like KILL HIM SAWYER! Ah, that is bad, I'm so blood thirsty

about 815 casing i think that a rich person put that plane in the water to tell everyone they are dead.

A couple of thoughts on the episode....we now know,or do we,from Naomi and Locke's father that Michael and Walt have not "escaped" since both said there were no survivors. So,where are they?
The Others wanted Locke because he is special, but so is Walt. Why would they have let him go?
Did you notice the size of the camp? How did they carry that much equipment?Certainly not the way we saw them pack up.
Does the column have any relationship to the four toed statue? Are they related to the "older place" Ben referenced to Locke?
Then there are the mysteries of the ship and helo not "seeing" the islands or noticing the interference on the radios, radars, etc.
One of the better epi's since season 1-answered questions but introduced more unknowns. It's fun to watch again.

Well my take on about the island is that it can't be seen unless by some kind of chance sighting like Namoi said. But if any kind of craft try to get to the island(s) they wreck by some type of force shield if you want to call it that. I kind of figure it like this some on the island(s) pulls certain things to it. That's how I figure the Black Rock ship got there, maybe cause Desmond wasn't there to put the numbers in is what brought down the airplane as it flew near the island(s). But if that's the case then how were they Ben's people able to quickly put together a fake airline crash site and getting all this information about the people from flight 815. So now I'm thinking maybe because every has some kind of connection to each by somebody in their past they were all planted to be on the plane at the same time. So could it be two 815 flights left at same time they both crash one is a setup that's found and investagated by blah blah agency of whatever from wherever okay. So these people are brought together and they're there to learn and find out that they are connected to each other in certain ways. And then they are put to test like Locke was about his dad (I'm still having a hard time believing that is Locke's real dad, another story for another time)to see how they'll deal with whatever it is. Like Locke couldn't kill his dad in front of all those people then he was given information about someone who is a possible killer who'll do what Locke couldn't do. I know I'm getting off from what I started at sorry I'll shut up and head back out to the rest of the herd moooovin along now.

I'm with Oldtimer - we keep hearing of the mythology of the island, and I think in the first season there was much discussion of Atlantis, Mu, and a host of other places. The column and the statue I'm sure are linked and I've heard the words "ancient site" tossed around - so there are probably more ruins or structures around.

Maybe this ancient site is where the island's true power is located or centralized.

Being a huge fan of Locke and not following the previews, spoilers or anything like that, I was just thrilled that this next 50 min was going to be about the guy..and Sawyer, the cutest southern perv of pacific! But there's tons of more stuff that makes this episode a classic. My humble list would be something like this:

* Kate and Sawyer's scene was hot hot hot-- despite a little to much exposure to that cute little bunny sniff thing of Kate. Her second best "ain't I just adorable?" number after the unforgettable spoon lick..

* Boys bringing Naomi to camp and going to Sayid instead of Jack was interesting to watch. Not an unexpected sign of mistrust and further conflict to come, considering that Jack brought Juliette but it's interesting to see how Jack begins to lose grounds with peripheral characters like Charlie and Hurley, who have always been behind Jack and had a kind of mediating position between the 'alpha' characters and rest of the Losties. Charlie and Hurley may not be Superman and Flash, but my impression is that their word/influence on the 'regular' Losties is immense. Can't wait to see how things will unfold in that department..

* Notice how Locke made Sawyer (James) do what he wanted him to do, in Ben's fashion? A new leader's being born? Locke said he's not intending to go and 'join' the Others but can't help noticing that he can beat Ben in his own game, with some practice I mean I know I know Ben's a though one- I kind of respect him for that. Strong enemy instead of a weak friend sort of thing..

* (Besides that Desmond's looking hotter to me lately ), I think he and Sayid can pair up and be the new leaders of Losties with voice of reason, contra the doctor with ugly tattoos and savior-complex. I'm excluding James only because he's no character that'd be interested in taking up such a role. And Locke said he's not returning back..

* Excellent acting between Locke, James, Cooper-Sawyer Dad and Ben. If this could be considered a Locke episode, it was equally a Josh Holloway one considering how his talent proved to surpass his looks (though competition) in every single scene of his. Loved the scene where he flipped out in the jungle and attacked Locke on the way to the catch-of-the-day.

* Flight 815 wreckage in the ocean?? A little too hot for heaven?? What's going on??
