good point, Integrated. But if Mikail was running away from someone/something, kind of strange that he ran toward the direction where a flare-gun's been shot. not a wise thing to do, right?
perhaps he was watching them and planned his entrance like that (I mean how else to approach? "hey I'm interested what's going on here, let me take a look?") -

OR Mikhail was expecting Naomi, and thought it might be her trying to give a signal. Yes, he did say to Locke and Kate before that communication's been off since the skies turned purple, but 1)are we to take his word (what if there's some secret place with more communication gadgets- like Juliette's ultrasound room. And what if these gadgets ARE somehow normal, or back-to functioning) 2)are we to assume that he never tried re-connecting to the outside world after the explosion- I mean he's the comm. man- I think he'd stay on the job of trying to fix it.
But how did this guy survive anyways??

We've been lead to beleive many times that The Others can't coomunicate with the outside world anymore. Mikhail probably saw the flare but .. why would he run towards it, totally unarmed? What was he expecting, he knew that someone fired it? This guy is creepy : "I already died once this week". However I think it's awesome he's still alive =D

Yes but we only heard her speak in several languages in small phrases... She may just know a little in different langauges if she was "stationed" or maybe she is fluent in all... I don't know

she probably just wanted to make sure that she gets herself understood whatever language people who rescued her might be speaking (assuming that she really had no idea of Losties being on the island)..

Is it possible that the others were trying to re-establish contact with the outside world and that naomi was bringing that phone not for her own use but for the others. Naomi would have recognized the camping team using english and japanese so why use so many languages? I think she did it to search for a language that they wouldn't understand. so she could relay the fact she was not alone to Mikhail and after running away mikhail might of found this other helicopter passenger somehow and gotten their phone and presto the others are back in touch with the world. In fact maybe parachuting in was a fail safe plan the others use if they lost contact with the main land. Holy crap I just thought of something, maybe the dharma company on the mainland doesn't know the others have taken over their facilities.So naomi could be a dharma person trying to find out what's happened on the island, so mikhail comes running in his dharma jumpsuit to appear as one of them. As for the book and the picture the only thing I can think of is that they didn't find it in the spot naomi landed.

Couldn't she have just been "out of it" from her injuries and saying what came to her in whatever langauge that came out... I know when people are seriously injured they speak whatever comes out.. When my sister boyfriend was in the hospital with some bad injuries I know he spoke in fragments and things no one understood in his home langauge and english..

that's interesting, so they never figured out what he was saying or in what language? the crazy things our minds can do in stressful situations it's amazing.

Yea we know he was speaking Slovican, but we don't know why he was saying some of it.. He was just speaking nonsense for the most part at first... The doctors said that when someone is in an accident or what have you what they try to fill in the blanks and what not with whatever they see or can think of.. Usually doesn't make sense because it is whatever is going on in their head while they are out of it and don't really know what is going on..

does anybody think that when naomi said "i'm not alone" in portugese was it? that she may have been referring to penny?

Yea I thought about that, or maybe since she came in on a helicopter their is a ship further off shore and that could be why she has the satillite phone as well... I hope Penny didn't crash into the water that would suck!
