Don't forget Folie back to when Danielle had captured Henry Gale. She told Sayid that he [Henry Gale] would lie, he would lie for a long time. Ben got pretty beat up and never broke his story. Juliet got pretty knocked around by Kate and never gave up her story [until the real threat came - smokey] and Ben told Jack that no matter what you think Juliet is one of us. So if you think Naomi is one of them (I don't, but if you do) then she's probably prepared to lie for a long time, too.
Naomi also said that she was not alone - so who's with her? Is that what the splash in the ocean was? Person number two going down with the helicopter? Maybe Penny is coming to the island after all, just like in Desmond's flashback.

Ok there's some crazy theories going around (like the Others expecting the plane to crash? That's way off) but there really are two possiblities to this completely crazy unbelievable ending to the episode.
1) Naomi is lying, or has been mislead, for some reason or another.
2) The Others, after the plane crahsed, to stop the search for flight 815, faked wreckage.

The reason I hate this second theory is that unlike what people have said you CAN'T just send in footage of a crash, and you CAN'T just dump a plane wreck full of ash and then people will think there's no survivors. If there was not one single body on board that was identifiably in the flight manifest then the authorities are going to know it's a fake.

The way Naomi said it was "They were all dead" as if they found all the bodies but everyone on board was dead .. there is literally no explanation to this. Clones?? No ..

I think that some kind of misinformation has been orchestrated by Others to stop the outside world's look for Losties, but faking a whole crash sounds way off to me too. If Naomi can speak 4-5 languages with blood in her lungs, she sure can be lying even at that moment- but possible that her comment just points to the general misinformation regarding Oceanic 815.

"Misinformation" ? Very unlikely. An entire flight full of people being confirmed dead does not happen through "misinformation". There are massive studies into this type of thing, and I think even if they found a plane full or corpses they would not stop looking for every single person if they did not have DNA samples confirmed of all the dead.

This type of crash, while every single person (or body) is unavaliable to you (being as many are still alive, many were cremated, some buried) is IMPOSSIBLE to fake. It's just impossible.

yeah, I agree, they way she said that makes it very hard to explain...if they had just found wreckage and no bodies, you wouldn't say "they were all dead" when Hurley revealed they were from 815...you'd think she'd say something like, "we thought you were all dead/missing" or something. Naomi saying they were dead certainly implies bodies were found, not just missing. At least that's how I interpret it.

First of all, there have been plane crashes where there is nothing left. Just a big hole in the ground. Maybe Naomi was misinformed. Maybe the rest of the world is still wondering what happened to flight 815. But for some reason, someone convinced Naomi that they'd found the flight and there were no survivors... just a thought. Personally I think someone faked a crash scene.

I agree. Faking a crash scene and creating false news supported with manipulated images of this scene (with post-production wonders Hollywood has familiarized us all with)--that's hardly a thing Jakob cannot do. But the fake plane crash theory stops there as far as I'm concerned- if left at this point, it works well with Naomi's comment- misinformed, if not misinforming deliberately (lying).

Kind of absurd to think a whole real scene was created to play make believe with criminal authorities and investigators. It's one thing to mess up people's minds when you're backed up by Jakob and living on a secluded island with magnetic powers AND pull out equally crazy stuff in the outside world. Then again, I like surprises so we'll see Maybe there's some temporality-twist to it all.

I think you're making this sound SO easy. In order for them to actually convince the world that everyone on board was dead the conspiracy would need to be absolutely massive, they'd need to b handling the entire investigation of the plane crash, and probably have half the US government in their pocket.

Well consider this:

If Naomi believes she is telling the truth maybe she has been convinced by who ever sent her that 815 crashed and no survivors. In other words the info she has may have been part of a briefing she was given, ya know shown fake pics or movies of wreckage. So maybe she didn't see it on the 6 o'clock news or anything like that.

So what I am saying is that we don't have to necessarily jump to the conclusion that the whole world has been conned or there are alternate dimensions. Naomi could just be a patsy. Or she could just be plain lying.

I think that with the right amount of power they could recreate or buy a lie that 815 was found and all dead.. How could they get such detailed files on all of the Losties if there was not a powerful funding behind the whole thing... The way they knew James killed someone just before he crashed on the island... Sayid and Basra "whatever that ends up to mean" all about Jacks wife... Locke being in a wheelchair before he crashed on the island.. The others do have some powerful connections IMHO
