Penny had hired some Portugese people to find Des. They found the location of the island at the end of the last season, when the hatch imploded. Naomi is obviously Portugese, given that she was carrying a Portugese language version of Catch-22. Ergo, it makes sense that she was one of the people hired by Penny.

I have a feeling it is Penny also... But I would not put it past Lost to throw a twist in there somewhere!!!!

All of that seems spot-on accurate

Yeah, I think we all pretty much are assuming she's from Penny.

Remember when Desmond went to the jeweler to buy Penny's wedding ring and the woman working there knew everything about him? I think Naomi has some connection with her, and the picture in the book was a setup because they knew he would foresee it that way.

...just throwing another theory out there.

I don't know if Naomi (is that her name?) was sent by Penny or not, they can really make it go any way they want.

What I'm wondering is, what is the significance of her reading Catch-22, language notwithstanding? Was is because of Desmond's choice about Charlie?
Desmond, at least, believes that the identity of the parachuter was linked to that, what do ya'll think?

I am just wondering how do you all know her name is Naomi? They didn't ever say it to my knowledge..

Also this may be a dumb idea but could it have been Penny on the heli if Des wouldnt have changed his vision? Kinda like if he would of let Charlie get hit with the arrow and die would it have been Penny coming to find Des? I was just thinkin since he changed his vision maybe it is changing the outcome instead of how it was intended to be originally..

I think that Naomi was sent by Penny however was told by her father that when she goes to the island she has to kill des. I think that pennys father is hanso maybe. So des sies so he cannot find out about his serect. Thats a big jump but it could happen
