Nikki Fernandez

Nikki Fernandez was one of the middle section survivors from Flight 815 and is first introduced in "Further Instructions". She had spent most of her time on the island trying to recover the $8 million diamonds she and Paulo had stolen from Zukerman, her staged lover, before the crash. She received a Medusa spider bite that induced a deathlike paralysis and she died after being buried alive alongside Paulo.

Thanks that is what I thought... So someone could have sent the new girl in and be waiting not so far off from the island for the ok to come to the island as well...

That would be really really awesome if it were true. That'd mean rescue very very soon.

Yeah, I bet that's it. A ship gets near the entrance, a chopper goes the rest of the way. it was supposed to get near the entrance and the chutist jumps, but the chopper got sucked in and wrecked like out Losties plane... good work people

I think part of the reason the splash looked so small was because it was farther than we think off shore and it was pretty dark at the time too.. That could have made it seem smaller.

The parachutist's beacon and parachute were similar to the ones seen in the supply drop.
The parachutist was wearing a pressure-demand oxygen mask, as opposed to a continuous-flow mask. Continuous-flow masks (such as of the kind released in airliners during emergencies) are typically used in unpressurized aircraft that fly between 12000 and 25000 feet, and do not make an airtight seal around the mouth. Pressure-demand oxygen masks like the one worn by the parachutist make an airtight seal and allow for flight at altitudes up to 50000 feet (if the aircraft is pressurized and the composition and pressure of the oxygen can be controlled). Flight above 50000 feet typically requires an astronaut-like pressurized suit. While some helicopters have flown to 40000 feet for the sake of claiming records, few helicopters can fly higher than 20000 feet, and most operate at 10000 feet or below (and thus are not pressurized).
