Why is Jack so stupid? ugh! - Page 2

I tell you it's those sandwiches Juliet was giving him when he was being held in lock up.

what i don't understand is how juliet said "if i told you, you'd kill me" or whatever it was that she said. and even after that jack still refuses to question why or what exactly would provoke her to say something like that. i think part of her manipulation is keeping the losties on their toes, just so jack can then sway them to think otherwise. even though he does deserve to get some sense kicked into him, i'm going to be so sad when jack finally finds out juliet's true intentions, i guess i am a bit of a hopeless romantic though...

Welcome Lostlove... I too am a bit of a romantic, but I think Jack is taking this a little too far.. He is putting the lives of many aside for this woman who admitted that "If I told you everything, You'd kill me."

This does not make sense to me on Jack's part because in Season 1 he was the person who thought rationally... Now he is just being lead by someone he knows to be bad.. I like the analogy between Juliette and Micheal because it does seem to fit..

Sayid and Sawyer - what a team!

I adore James now!!! James said it perfectly with his "why are you against all of us to defend one of them" line. I shout "Yes!" out loud. I hope James and Sayid don't let her little "i know what you did last summer" story weaken them. They are absolutely right in wanting answers from her.... they finally have someone who can give them answers, don't let her go! And what's with jack's stupid, "she'll talk when she's ready," like she's a tramatized little victim... dumb Jack. I've changed my mind and don't want Charlie killed off anymore, let Jack go (Michael Fox has wanted off the show for a while now) let the island grant him his wish!

I think that Jack has Stockholm Syndrome now that I think of it. Its when you fall in love with a person who has held you captive. "Stockholm syndrome is a psychological response sometimes seen in an abducted hostage, in which the hostage can show signs of having feelings of loyalty to the hostage-taker, regardless of the danger (or at least risk) in which the hostage has been placed."(wikipedia) Its like Jack has completely thrown reason out the door, in order to blindly believe Juliet. And that quote that James said does make sense steph. Jack will now refuse to let anyone get to Juliet, he has abopted this role as Juliet's protector and will end up hurting everyone around him because of it.

I think Jack felt so helpless in the other's camp that Juliette was the only other who also felt like she couldn't escape, and that made him trust her. He is so sweet, and tries to look for the best in everybody, but it may come back to bite him.

BabyYo - You might be right with the Patty Hearst Disease. I keep thinking back to when Ben Linus pointed out to Jack that Juliet looked a lot like his ex-wife, Sarah. That probably affected Jack. I also loved the Sayid line after Jack says "I trust her, shouldn't that be enough" and Sayid rifled back "No, Jack, it is not enough." Go, Sayid, go!!!!

Yea thats what I thought about too, Juliet resembling his ex wife. Also Kate has shattered his heart, and here's Juliet waiting in the wings. He may latch on to Juliet more than he normally would because of these captive circumstances and his need to not be alone or hurt by Kate. Everytime kate would try to talk to him about it, Jack would say "talk about what?" to avoid it. Juliet provides him with a focus to keep him from thinking about Kate.

AND she's obviously very skilled at deception and manipulation.
