island location

It appeared that Juliette joined Mittelos in Miami. Is it a bad assumption to think that is where they boarded the sub? If that's the case how could the island be in the south pacific? In order to go from Miami to the S.Pacific it would have to travel all the way around S. America. I doubt they took it through the Panama Canal. I guess it's possible that they boarded a plane in Miami and flew to a west coast location where the sub was. With Juliette being drugged I guess anything could have happened. I just thought it was weird.

If they took a plane it couldn't have been a commercial flight because it would look a little weird traveling with a passed out woman over your shoulder.

Juliet was at a private airport when she drank the OJ. So I assumed they flew some where first. Of course that just adds to the time that she was knocked out since it was apparent that she was out for the entire journey.

IMHO I think the sub is just another manipulation tool. We never seen it in action and if that is the only way off the island then Michael and Walt never made it in the boat. I believe there is still other ways to get off the island.

How could a sub be an intense journey anyway, unless you have crippling claustophobia.

Well whether the sub is real or not there are other means to get to the island. Air balloons drop food on the island and planes seem to crash on it as well do boats like the black rock and the boat Danniel came on so there are other ways to get to the island.

Yeah, I was a little un-convinced that a submarine is an "intense journey." Although my Mom has really bad claustophobia, and on the submarine at Disneyland when I was around 4, she almost plowed over the little guy running the ride to get off! I still don't believe she needed to take something that would knock her out that fast, for that ride.

Okay, please pardon my crudeness, but I I were on a submarine that went from Seattle to an island in the South Pacific? (okay with my bladder size - from anywhere to anywhere) wouldn't she have to use the bathroom? She drank a big glass of OJ before getting on the sub, and I hope they didn't cathaterize her, so where are they? I'm leaning toward whoever's idea (from this very site) who wrote the sub is a prop. The sub crew who is just sitting there comfortably drinking coffee - it didn't seem too horrific a trip to them, or Ethan. John Locke climbed down into that sub and figured out it was a fake and couldn't go anywhere anyway, and since Ben said that the Galaga kept the Others hopes alive to think they could leave the island, John basically blew up their hopes - in hope of them losing faith in Ben Linus (DeGroot ~Linus is his middle name, I just know it)
