Whatsup with the mark?

There is a mark on the tree where Juliet recovers the "medicine" for Claire. Is it the same mark that Juliet was branded with? Here are some screencaps to compare. It looks like the same to me. But what does that mean?

I noticed the mark on the tree last night, but didn't connect it to the brand. Nice catch.

As to what the mark means, I don't know. In the last scene between Ben and Juliet he mentioned putting the suitcase of medicine near Ethen's former drop off point. I just assumed that the carving in the tree was some kind of directional sign. But since it looks so much like the branding, maybe it means something else.

The sign Juliet was branded with is the scientology cross. I don't think it is connected with the sign on the tree.

Yeah when I first saw it thats what I thought too just a mark to help someone locate the drop spot. It wasn't until later when I was looking at screencaps that I noticed it look like Juliet's brand.

So the others are connected with the Dharma initiative if they brand themselves with a symbol related to scientology. The brand on Juliet's skin is supposed to remind her where she belongs and who owns her. She will forever be a part of them and now she can't escape it. The symbol on the tree was supposed to help her find the case, but it also reminds her of where she belongs and the orders she must follow. That is a good catch folie good job.

The tree mark looks like a letter from the cyrillic alphabet. I took Russian but can't quite remember what that was.... (was Mikhail Russian? Bea Klugh was speaking Russian to him, right?)

I don't really think the marks in and of themselves are extremely significant. The mark on Juliet's arm was more for Jack's benefit than anything else...just to make him feel even more connected to her. It could be a sign to her own people that she is working as a double agent, or it could mean "I'm With Stupid"
I think the producers are just throwing around some mysterious looking symbols to keep us distracted. I doubt it was an actual scientology symbol (upside down at that), because then they would have to deal with lawsuits and such.....
The mark on the tree served a useful purpose, and they are way too advanced to just use a good old fasioned "X"

Still think it looks cyrillic, but I read somewhere that it could be the sign of Pisces... I'm not into the zodiac so I'm not sure about that one.

Well it could also be nothing just another con from Ben. Maybe Ben made Juliet act like she wanted Jack to kill Ben to see if he would confess to Juliet he would. The Ben would know not to let Jack perform the surgery on him. Maybe he told Jack they were going to kill Juliet to see what reaction Jack would have. Once he saw he would protect her he knew he can use Juliet to manipulate him to do what he wants. I like the con game it's fun!Keeps you guessing
