Desmond David Hume
Desmond David Hume was the lone resident of the Swan at the time of the Flight 815 crash. He was discovered by Locke, Kate and Jack a month later after they had blown open Hatch. After his failed attempts to leave the Island, Desmond joined the camp of survivors. Following the destruction of the Swan, Desmond gained a mysterious ability to see flashes of the future, with which he predicted Charlie's imminent death.

PLUS the winners move to Otherville where they can have all the amenities of life. Then they develop a rudimentary monetary system with ex-Dharma paper-printed money based on the $8 million in diamonds our losties first banker ( Hurley) recovered. They establish a health care system (Jack), a program for the Arts (Charlie), a national park system and horticultural society (Sun), markets and trade begin to develop and fishing operations go commercial thereby creating jobs and income for some on the island (Jin),a police force is created for domestic tranquility (Kate), a sanitation department begun(Scott, and in a direct quote from Scott the motto of the sanitation department is established "Keep Creepy Island Beautiful"), and a national defense is established (Sayid). Sawyer is, of course, voted the leader of New Otherville, and with Locke by his side as game advisor, the residents of New Otherville move quickly and smoothly through all the forms of government mentioned in the game Civilization (despotism, monarchy, communism, democracy, republic)

Was it James or Sawyer who couldn't clean a fish?
I thought that made him look too weak, and un-resourceful.
I think I like the one that was at the bar b que best.
and I think that was a little of both.
too bad there wasn't any beer left

OR - the losties go dig up the diamonds ($8 million) and use it to bribe Ben to get them all off the island. Between Ben Linus, Richard Alpert, and the mysterious him someone in the group must understand the value of the diamonds - at some point there is contact with the outside world - CDs, dish detergent, LL Bean clothes, light bulbs, etc... where the diamonds would come in handy.

Plus, I said this once before, he is reading all of the books that the Other's society seems to be based upon. I believe, when it all comes down to it, Sawyer will be the leader of the new occupants of the others camp, except it will be the chosen Losties, and not the Others, Smokey will deal with them.

Well he does look kinda like jesus. You are too funny cable. Sawyer is just learning to contribute to a society as opposed to taking from it. thats a huge adjustment as is, not to mention Kate's drama and dissappearance. so hes still adjusting and finding less and less need for being gruf, conning people and portraying a tough guy.
