Has Ben known about the Swan Station all along?

He and Juliet are observed using the Pearl Station to spy on the Losties in the Swan Station.

However, when Ben was originally captured by Rouseau and brought back to the Swan Station by Sayid (when he was telling them his name was Henry Gale) Ben acted as though he knew nothing about the Swan Station and was trying to pump the losties for imformation about it.

So...did Ben know about Kelvin and Desmond long before the losties arrived on the island?

i think he knew the station existed and what its purpose was... after all he used to work for Dharma, i think he knew about kelvin being down there, as my guess is he knew pushing the button was vital for the good of the island or whatever, and i think he would have known that kelvin was down there, either because kelvin had survived the purge being in the hatch or that kelvin was another dharma person who had been converted to the others. i dont think he knew about desmond though because he seemed surprised when he found out that sayid and jin and sun had a boat at the begining of season 3 when colleen told them

oh my god i think iv just realised what the sickness is (sorry to change the subject) but the swan doors had quarantene written on them, to stop people going outside, the purge that was carried out by the others seemed to invoolve some sort of killer gas, maybe the sickness was caused by the gas still being around for a while after the purge, but its affects were not as instant and killed people off slowly

That makes no sense, if it hung around it would have killed The Others, who had to wear gas masks to survive the Purge. They went right into Otherville and set up shop knowing it was over.

Ben is the most interesting character on Lost because of his intimate knowledge of both on island and off island, and the reasons for both parties (hostiles and Dharma) for wanting to have control over the island. Ben knows the island is crucial to the existence of men everywhere, but doesn't yet quite know why. with that being said, he doesn't quite understand what the Swan's purpose is, but he may have felt nervous about halting it's operation. He could not explain to one of the Hostiles why they should keep pushing the button, so he kept the ex-Dharma dude in there to do the work for him.
Now, the quarantine was printed on the door to keep old dharma people from leaving and getting 'mind attacked' by smokey or Jacob, but once ben realized that both could be under ben's control, he bought chemical suits to Kelvin telling him that he must remain inside or out with a gas mask to prevent a gas attack. He did this to keep Kelvin loyal to Dharma, but really, to ben himself.

Geez, it's so obvious....LOL

not if the others had the antidote to it, remember kelvin made desmond inject himself with that stuff every 9 days or whatever

I just thought of something else.

When Jack and Locke give Ben (Henry) some cereal, Ben starts asking them questions about the Hatch and where the food came from and where the Hatch came from and ends with the comment (I'm paraphrasing here), "With of you don't know about this place, you don't seem very curious about finding out more."

Do you think he was referring to the hidden hatch under the computer banks where the Failsafe was hidden?

The hatch they never found in all the time they were pushing those buttons?

And the Failsafe Key that Desmond left behind in that book. They never found that, either.

I think Ben knew there was a station, but didnt know where it was. And Maybe they only discovered the TV station after Kelvin had died, I dont know, but I think Kelvin was clever enough to know that there were cameras because ben would know about that funny side thing. If kelvin know how to Lockdown he obviously knew about the cameras. ALSO perhaps Ben forgot all about the dharma things until the losties came, thats why he used them, because although it sounds stupid most of the dharma stations are dusty when found. PS. I'm sure Ben doesnt know about Desmond.

i agree, they dont know about desmond, well they will now cos Mickeal saw him but i dnt think ben did before.

what i cant decide is if kelvin knew about ben, he obviously knew about "hostiles" but was he working with them or against them, and if against them why was he not killed in the purge....... did ben leave him in there with the rest of the others not knowing because he knew the significance of pushing the button but the others where completely hostile and wanted to destroy it......... we know ben lies about some things to them and finally do the rest of the others know about kelvin and the hatches, i think mickheil does but maybe not many others

Was there ever a scene with both Desmond and Ben in it? It seems like Ben should have known Desmond was in the hatch for 3 years, because when he and Juliet had been in the Pearl station and saw Jack on the screen, it didn't seem like a surprise to them. They knew the pearl station existed so they knew the Swan station existed. They could have been watching Kelvin, Desmond and now the losties all this time, along with Mikhail gathering info all the time too. Just part of the Dharma project.. But like I said I don't remember a scene with Ben and Des so I don't think they've met face to face. Would Desmond know who Ben was somehow from before????? Did Kelvin know who Ben was????? I think not...

i really dont know.........Ben seemed surprised they had a boat..... so im not sure he knew about des.

maybe they never went to monitor anything before the losties crashed, maybe they had no need to......

ben would have known about all the hatches cos of his connection to dharma but i think that may have been it
