Kate Austen

Kate Austen is one of the middle section survivors of Oceanic Flight 815. Kate is a fugitive, and was being pursued by Marshal Mars prior to the flight, for blowing up her father. Kate had been captured in Australia and was being escorted back to the United States before the crash. Kate has always seemed to run away from her past. Even on the Island, Kate exhibits a kind of evasive behavior to escape from her problems. Kate, when on the run, always had good intentions and never did any outright harm or killings to anybody, she believed she was doing things for the greater benefit of others. This view is prominently connected with her actions of her father's murder - she believed she was relieving her mother from his abusive presence. Kate is strong-willed, useful and clever, but dislikes being alone and is usually level-headed.

She has escaped from the captivity of the Others with Sawyer, and has formed an ambiguous romantic relationship with him, despite still being unsure about her feelings for Jack.

Default Squished Spider
I noticed Paulo hit his neck and squished the spider in his hand. They checked for gun shot, wounds, etc on Paulo how come they didn't see the orange goo formally the Medusa spider in his palm? Don't spider bites swell as well? Wouldn't they have seen the swollen area on his neck and on Nikki's leg? If they were checking for other wounds I'm sure it wouldn't have been hard to miss?

I thought about that too...

Good point to bring up.. I don't know what kind of bite mark it would have left or what..... but you would think that it would have left something they could have seen...

I don't know how well they looked at the bodies though.. No blood no gun shot.. They thought maybe someone poisioned them so I doubt they thought it could have been a bite from something on the island since no one else has had a problemn that we know of!!

yeah, i agree with Wed, they are not Quincy (old time CSI for you youngin's), and they are on an island w/o showers, they prob have goo and dirt all over them.

I am thinking that most of the castaways would have to kill bugs that crawl on them on a daily basis. The jungle tends to be alive that way. So, they may not take the same kind of notice that us civilized fold would to such a gooey mess.
