Ben had a lot of interesting things in his house. Every room was cluttered with books. I also saw butterflies mounted in glass sitting on tables, countertops, and hung on the walls. A lot of pictures everywhere too and some paintings. The weirdest one is the lady holding a hamster. I think she kinda looks like Libby.... prob not but little maybe....kinda.
He also had a strange statue in the living room and a constellation map on the wall by his bedroom closet.
One of the books by his bedside was a Stephen King book, I thought he didn't like King or maybe he just didn't like Carrie.

Here are some screen caps of his house. Check out the Dharma cookie jar in the kitchen. For when the grandkids stop by I guess.

That is the first thing that came to mind when I saw the horse too.

Those masks are all over the place, and yeah all different kinds. Dunno what they could mean, but prob more than just a style choice on Ben's part.

I think the woman in the portrait is Karen DeGroot. Also I read somewhere about the masks... Let's remember the 19th century mining ship Black Rock that also contained slaves. There is a theory out there circulating (I'm torn about it) that some of the slaves survived and are actually inhabiting the island, ergo the two different sets of Others. Perhaps the masks are because of studies on these people or finds from these people (btw - Mr. Eko was from Africa)
Also - there is a black horse sculpture and let's not forget the black horse that played a significant role in Kate's life, and that she and Sawyer saw on the island (even though it could have come from the Flame)

The lovely dharma cookie jar ( I have one I picked up at a yard sale, it somehow delays time and keeps cookies fresh for YEARS!!!!!!!!) has the same logo as the VW bus.

Very cool pics. I think I may be reaching a bit but, the butterfly is a symbol of transformation. Locke is a butterfly (or moth) He has been changed by the island. Wheel chair to walking. There are others like, Rose (cancer), and Charlie. (drugs) Ben believes in the island's power to manifest and make changes. It's something we know Ben wants badly. Just a thought.
