okay - this is kind of out in left field (but i've been rewatching season 2) and when john is about ready to let the counter count down and he and desmond seal themselves in the hatch and lock out eko and charlie, there's a scene right before desmond goes under the hatch to turn the failsafe key where he refers to locke as "Box man". Originally i assumed it was because locke was a regional manager for a box company, but now, with desmond having the forsight and of all the people on the whole island ben shows what came out of the "box" to Locke. Weird, right?

Well Queen I don't think that Desmond had the power of forsight (and know it at least) until after he turned the failsafe key... Just my opinion I really don't have much to prove it, just that when Charilie wants to know what happened to him is when we found out "for sure" that he could see the future

But really I guess it is just my opinion

Yeah, I'm with you in that we all assume that the purple sky blast was somehow connected with desmond's visions/timejumping, but still... it's weird, right?

John had lots of jobs, but des didn't say toyman, or insurance man; which just might be because that was the last job he had and that's what he told des he did, but still it seems a bit strange.

I think he told Desmond it was one of his jobs when they first entered the hatch... When Locke told Desmond that Kate would be a better prisioner than him because she was a futigive

I doubt very much anyone would be allowed to leave with the information they know.

I think it's basically that people should want to live on the island and never leave, like Ben does, but they aren't ready to make that commitment, so that's why they need the illusion that they can leave at any time.

Did you see the look on Ben's face when he wanted to take Locke to the Sub but he rejected. Imense. (Sorry if this is a little off-topic)

Queen Locke does tell Desmond when they meet that he worked for a box company:

DESMOND: Shut it. [He throws a rope to Kate] Tie him up. Do it!
LOCKE: Wait. Wait, wait -- you're tying up the wrong person.
DESMOND: How's that, brother?
LOCKE: It's pointless to tie me up, I'm not dangerous. But her, she's a fugitive.
DESMOND: So, what does that make you then, brother?
LOCKE: I'm a regional collections manager for a cardboard manufacturer -- boxes primarily.
DESMOND: All right then, box man, tie her up.
