Paulo

Paulo was one of the middle section survivors of Flight 815. Before the crash, he and Nikki Fernandez murdered Howard L. Zukerman and stole his diamonds. They spent most of their time on the island searching for these diamonds to the exclusion of almost everything else. A bite from a Medusa spider induced a death-like paralysis in Paulo. He subsequently died as a result of being buried alive while paralized.

Patchy was getting ready to reveal who was really in charge(not Ben)
Who is he refering to, Alvar Hanso, Gerald Degroot, Thomas Mittlewerk?

I'm begining to think that there are no other 'Others'. It seems like it is just an excuse not to take responsibility for their own actions and thoughts. It's like they want the symathy vote from the Losties because "We don't want to hurt you... we have to..."

It's like if you're ordered to do something bad to survive or if you do something bad just to be hateful. You stand a better chance of being forgiven by the person you hurt if they believe you have no other choice (a fear for your own life).

I suspect that Jacob is one of the smalltime bosses. This project is too important and too big to not be connected to a government black op group. Ben is the leader on the island and Jacob is possibly their direct boss but it's unlikely that he's one of the main leaders.

Perhaps Hanso has become a messianic figure in his own mind, and the Dharma Initiative is an effort to recreate mankind "in his own image." (Food for thought). Or one of Hanso's partners has placed himself in Jacob's role (messianic idea again, just using a different person).

Also, the phrase "great man," has been turning up. Desmond's girlfriend's father, Widmore, used it describing the McCrutchens whiskey, and how Desmond would never be "a great man." Mikhail says their real leader is "a great man." Ben even told Jack and Locke (when he was their prisoner in the Hatch) that the leader of the Others was a "great man, but cold and unforgiving as well." (I think that's what he said, I'm paraphrasing here).

Didn't mean to blow the theory just using the same words... Desmond was told he would never be a good man-- Then Penny tells him she loves him becasue he is a good man and from her experiance they are hard to come by...
CBK refers to 'Him" to Locke as "A Great Man"
Then Patchy finally refers to "Him" as "Magnificant Man"
