Ok- I do agree it is a brilliant idea to put a message on the birds to try to get rescued. Would you have settled with only catching one? I have no idea the death rate of the migration flock but wouldn't you think they would have tried catching more birds?

Thats what I was thinking when she wanted a net at first maybe catch several and attach notes to them to get a better chance of rescue... But at least someone on the beach is trying again!

Seems to me that bird will get eaten by Dharma Shark before someone in Austrailia or New Zealand will A. See it. B. Capture it again. And C. Have a way to help. And thats assuming that the note doesn't get too wet to read, or fall off.

Watch, that bird will show up on the very last epi, note still attached, after everyone is saved. Some random person finds it and goes searching for the island with a new group of Losties....

Those seagulls were more of Dharma's genetic research birds, they probably are like homing pigeons release from some Dharma hatch only to fly back once they have completed there circle of the island. This being said with slight sarcasm.

The last episode 3 minutes left. All of our Losties have already been rescued. Suddenly we are following the bird flying over the ocean, someone we have not seen before is on a boat and sees the note, they follow it,it leads them to an island. I'll say He gets off the boat. The bird lands. And as the bird walks away, the guy follows. We watch the bird walk past a bush(we don't know what is on the other side). Then we see the guy's face, with a look of shock,we slowy pan over to find a new batch of Losties that have just crashed, but scattered among them are our fallen Losties. Then the guy sees a tall man with a stick covered in scripture. Eko makes direct eye contact with him, and grins....LOST

I wondered about sea birds flying over the ocean sometimes stop and rest by just floating - wouldn't the little note get wet and soggy, or did they put it in a ziploc bag?

I think we're pretty much safe to assume that most animals on the island, came from the island.

I don't assume the birds came from the island(and why? you may ask? They didn't have a Dharma logo ).... bird migrate at great distances. They are the wild card in the control issue, especially if the purple sky thing shut down the whatever so that now the island is not shielded.
