When Benry was manipulating Locke, telling him Jack doesn't consult him on decisions etc. He told Locke "I came here for you" which John has probably figured out was a lie. So he is 'full of anger' (or whatever Mikhail said.) I think he is with Kate and Sayid because he wants to confront Ben, I also think there is something major about his being paralyzed that ties in here. He grabbed the C4 just in case, never know when you might need to blow something up He found out about the sub after. Where did that cable that Sayid followed to Danielle's go? It went out under the water? Is that something to do with the sub? And..did Benry ever mention a list to John in their little chats?

Just had an interesting thought. Remember Locke's vision with Boone (when he was in the sweat lodge)? Boone told him he had to clean up his mess.

What if cleaning up the mess meant (in Locke's mind) taking on Ben and the Others? After all, it was Ben who lied to him and caused him to lose faith in the island and what he was doing.

Perhaps he is trying to set things right by doing things which would nullify the Others' strategic advantage (destroying their means of communicating with the mainland and for their submarine to home in on the island. (Besides getting revenge on Ben for manipulating him).

After Locke shoves Patchy through or into the fence surrounding the barracks
he says “SORRY”
What if he meant sorry that he felt he had to kill Patchy not that it did kill him…
It would be worth a try if he knows personal things about him (Locke) that he doesn’t want other losties to know…

I do not think it was Ben who cause him to lose his faith and I do not believe Boone meant to take on the others or Ben. The mess Locke made was giving up on his faith which caused Eko to be taken (Further instructions).
