Charlie Hieronymus Pace

Charlie Hieronymus Pace was a survivor from the middle section of Oceanic 815. Before the crash, Charlie was the bassist and main songwriter for the rock band Driveshaft. When Flight 815 crashed, Charlie was snorting heroin in one of the plane's bathrooms. Charlie's drug addiction and crippling self-doubt were the biggest obstacles in his life. Like many of the Losties, the crash provided Charlie with a fresh start. On the Island, Charlie formed a relationship with Claire Littleton and her son Aaron.

After avoiding deaths foreseen by Desmond several times, Charlie finally died willingly to save the other survivors. He drowned on day 93, and his death is yet unknown to anyone except Desmond.

Default Enter77:Assumptions

(Hi, new to this board! )

Why has everyone assumed that the C4 was placed there by DHARMA? The C4 looked to me to have been added long after the station was built, probably by the Others/Hostiles.

Why the assumption that Locke blew up the station? The Doc told Locke to enter 77 if the hostiles were overrunning the station, so perhaps 77 was a call for help. I think the others pushed the button destroying the C4 and with it the station. Either Mrs. Klugh or the russian could have called the others. Klugh from the basement before she was found, and the russian while Locke was playing chess...

Interesting thought Asher - it is true, I think, that John never went down in the basement and saw the C4, only Kate and Sayid saw it. John stayed upstairs and played chess. I don't remember Kate and Sayid saying,"Hey John! the whole place is rigged with explosives."

The lack of important communication among our losties is UNREAL!

I think, possibly, that t"he hostiles" rigged the C4 and re programmed the computer to detonate it if 77 was entered, so instead of connecting to the sattelite to signal, it connected to the detonator and BOOM!

Was it just a coincidence that they were all outside when it happened!

Obviously the place was rigged to blow, not as a booby trap for intruders.... but as a self destruct to keep the hatch out of the wrong hands. I never assumed that Dharma rigged it to blow, rather I assumed it was the hostiles. The reason I thought that was because Mikhail seemed to encourage Locke to continue playing the game. It was no surprise to him where the game was leading. Originally, the 77 may have been an S.O.S set up by Dharma...but it seems to me that since communications are down it would now be useless. However, if the hostiles rig it to blow when someone tries to call for help...that makes more sense to me. Why Locke did not discuss the prompts with his fellow losties is a mystery to me. I would not have been able to wait to show them what was going on with the computer. On the other hand, why didn't Kate and Sawyer mention the place was rigged to blow? I agree that the losties need to start trusting each other enough to communicate these kinds of details! It would save a lot of trouble.

I disagree. I don't think the DHARMA computer device was rewired by the hostiles or anything, and I think the C4 was set their by Dharma as well. Think about it, if they knew the Hostiles were this big threat, the last thing they want to happen is that this (possibly) ONLY way of communicating with the outside world is to fall into their hands.

It reminds me of Stargate SG1, whenever Stargate Command is compromised, the person in charge will immediately start a self destruct countdown to destroy the base to stop it falling into enemy hands.

DHARMA knew that the hostiles might try and take the facility, they also knew it was extremely important (possibly the only communcation with the outside world) so they set C4 to destroy it should it fall into enemy hands. "Has the station been taken over by Hostiles?" If yes then "BOOM". There was even a timer long enough to allow escape from the building. Makes perfect sense.

I just re-watched the episode, I had forgotten that Candle/Wickman had said both sattelite and sonar communication was down, so entering 77 would have another purpose rather than connecting to the sattelite.

Integrated, maybe you are right about Dharma putting the explosives there.

Of course they put them there. They needed a way to get rid of evidence without being there." Enter 77." By the way,Welcome Asher. (:
