Dr. Jack Shephard
Dr. Jack Shephard is often seen as the main character of the series. He is a spinal surgeon and the de facto leader of the survivors of Oceanic Flight 815. Jack has control issues and trouble dealing with situations that he cannot fix. However, this attitude of solving problems through reason has given him the ability to function well in crisis. Sometimes, if he feels guilt or pain over a situation he can't fix himself, he will do anything he can to fix it, even borderlining on obsessive. Jack is, most of the time, in control of his life, emotions and situation he is in and is able to keep a cool head in tense situations. Jack is also the half brother of Claire Littleton, although neither of them is aware of this. Jack has formed very strong bonds with Kate and Juliet while he has been on the Island.

Did anyone notice that they (Ben and the Others) got their boat back? The one that they gave to Michael and Walt so the two could leave the island at the end of Season Two?
It's the boat that is sitting offshore at the end of the episode that Jack, Ben, and the others get ferried out to.

different (larger) boat...

Agreed! The first time I saw it my heart sank, but then I saw another perspective and it was definitely not the same boat. The pic that Benmer posted makes it clear when you blow it up. Boat's too big.

Frank: It's the same old story. Boy finds girl, boy loses girl, girl finds boy, boy forgets girl, boy remembers girl, girls dies in a tragic blimp accident over the Orange Bowl on New Year's Day.
Jane: Goodyear?
Frank: No, the worst.

I agree. I was going by the little glimpse of it offshore and the shape and size of the forward pilot's cabin that Jack and Juliet were leaning against as they were wrapping up the episode.
However, we shouldn't be surprised if the boat Michael used is returned. I would assume that the Powers-That-Be outside the island would take charge of the boat after Michael and Walt were done with it (and return it to Ben's group).

Oh...just thought of something else. Did you notice that Carl repeated the phrase, "God loves us as he loved Jacob," the words which were flashed on the screen in the "brainwashing" room when they rescued Carl?
I am assuming the words refer to Jacob in the Bible when he impersonated his older brother in order to steal his older brother's birthright (his father's blessing).
Could this be a subtle hint that Ben has supplanted Hanso and taken over control of the Dharma Initiative projects on the two islands? And that the Swan Station was the last Hanso holdout--outside Ben's control, Ben's group being the hostiles Kelvin referred to when talking to Desmond about the dangers of moving around outside the Station?
edit: I'm not sure I got the quote right. Could have been 'He loves us as God loved Jacob.' But the same idea would apply. Jacob's bloodline became the one the messiah was born from. Ben equals Jacob (metaphorically speaking).
