first off i think its funny they chose the small of the back. Is it so she and Henry Gale have matching scars... ( i kid ) but seriously. thats like the new hip place to get tattoos for most women. Ironic becuase they cant ever see it with thier own two eyes... ( wich could be reason why there, so you have to live with it ) And besides it is most likely always covered up by clothes. So it seems like an odd place to mark somone so that everyone sees it.... when barely anyone who doesnt sleep with her or go swimming with her will see it.

Yes, the mark..... it seems pretty lame to me. I guess it could be equated with the mark of Cain, the mark of a murderer. It can't be there to warn others about her violent tendencies as was pointed out...who is gonna see it there? I think it is a mark that is intended to illicit a reaction from Jack. It offers him proof that Juliet is really on the outs with her people. It gives them another thing in common, since he is also marked with a tattoo. Now he feels like both of them are misunderstood, marked, being held against their will by Ben and the others, and both of them have falsely been promised their freedom. All of this empathy for Juliet gives Ben and the others more power over him. I would like to know if the symbol has any relevance at all or if it is just as random as it seems.

I read elsewhere that it looks the the Scientology cross, but upside down.

If one point wasn't longer than the others it would look like the symbol for Venus, Roman goddess of fertility. The fertility part fits well with Juliete, but I'm not sure how it fits in with murder. Unless....it's all a big goofy con and the others said "Hey, we're gonna mark you to trick Jack...anything in particular you'd like to have branded on you"?
