So what were the 3 big mysteries?

So in the promo clip for this episode, ABC promised us that the "answers to 3 of Lost's biggest mysteries are finally revealed"

Are we to assume those "big" mysteries were:
1. are the kids alive?
2. is Cindy alive?
3. what's up with Jack's tattoos?

because that's all they really told us; to me a bigger mystery is why they took the kids and Cindy, and why Cindy is working with them (and to say "to give them a better life" is not a good enough answer) I assumed they were alive, so this episode didn't tell me anything. And don't get me started on the tattoos...I'm not sure there's a plot line I care less about than his tattoos...

Thoughts? Can someone please tell me I missed something?

That was about the jist of it I think.. I totally agree with you... I was disappointed and rolled over and went to sleep after it... Unlike last week were I rewatched it right away and had my mind stiring until all hours of the night..

The producers in the podcast last week stated that they felt that ABC was over emphasizing the 3 mysteries promotion. I would say that the 3 were:

1. How Jack got his Tatoo, the significance, and translation.
2. Karl reveals that they live on the main island, and only work on projects on the smaller ones.
3. Passengers who were taken (cindy & kids) are not harmed and seemingly content.

My own two personal revelations: 1) Ethan was a surgeon 2)the others do not know about the Brady Bunch

The tatoo will probably be a very relevant detail down the road. We have been told that the character names are important and I think the tatoo is going to be in the same vein. Jack has never felt as though he belonged, and he fights against being the natural leader that people see in him. He possibly has been fighting what will become his destiny his entire life.

Yea those were pretty important about Ethan being a surgeon and the Brady Bunch comment.... I guess they don't get old reruns on craphole island..

When Ben said that we had a surgeon, it made me think back to when Mr Linus said that he found out about his tumor and then a spinal surgeon fell from the sky... We'll if he already had a surgeon why did he need Jack... I know we kill Ethan, but why couldn't have Ethan fixed him then and he had someone else go investigate the crash site???? I mean really its his own fault his surgeon got killed being that he was attacking the losties right??

Of course I am suspicious of everything Ben says. Every word that comes out of his mouth is a tool of manipulation. So I am not positive that Ethan was a surgeon with the type of ability to do a complicated spinal surgery. For all we know he was a veteranarian and did surgery on Polar Bears..... However in the Maternity Leave Episode when Claire remembers her time in captivity. Tom confronts
Ethan for kidnapping Claire, stating he was only supposed to be making a list. Ethan defends himself, stating that they had a flight manifest and he had to change plans. So Ben may not have expected Ethan to run into any real danger.

Good points!! I never trust Mr. Linus, just thought that the way he said we had a surgeon, seemed kinda odd... Like you had to replace him since your people killed him..

Ha! Nice one, Frog...you're right - Ethan being a surgeon did shock me more than anything else in that episode.

Yeah both the spies Ben sent out were killed, interesting. It is TATTOO, with 2 T's people.

The thing about Ben being such a liar is that he could tell the truth any time and we wouldn't believe him. He gets people to do what he wants by pushing the right buttons.

I'm another one who could have cared less about Jack's tattoo. Maybe if I just ignore all of ABC's hype and only watch the show, I'll enjoy it more. Did you hear what they said in the preview for next week? Something about "you need to watch so you'll know what everyone is talking about the next morning"? Fire that marketing moron.
