As to pics: The first pic we saw of 'Penny' is in S2/1, it has a girl we first saw as the gal who wanted to adopt unborn Aaron:

This was actually left behind in the hatch by Desmond when he split.

Later we see this pic:

And then last night Desmond on the beach.

I have no idea how he 'happened' to find her pic, but no undies.

What's the deal there? I still think there is something to this because of the black/white theme of the show, I mean they could have had her in ANY color top.

okay, you guys have cleared up alot...

I am pretty sure that Des had that picture with him...not that he brought it back with him. I agree with benmer that all of that was in his head...I am not even sure that he saw Charlie the first time around. He may have just added that part in his mind like he may have added the painting in Widmore's office, the microwave beep, and even the clothes he was wearing. He was remembering the whole thing, mixing present memories with past, so that's why this is such of a mindf*** of an episode.

I still would like to know how Penny got that pic...

And the whole black/white thing is VERY interesting!

Interesting thread, lots of good thoughts all. I personally do not believe the event was in Desmonds head, but an actual shift or rip in the time space continuum. I think the picture was on Desmond in the hatch when he turned the key and by "fate/chance" was blown out of the hatch (along with his clothes..lol) and was lying there when the shift corrected itself and returned him to that place. I'm not sure how Penny also has a photo, or why it has distinct differences. But I do believe it to be a very significant detail.

seems like it was an issue of re-casting Pen's part.

if this info is true, then we can safely ignore the original photo, since the re-broadcast of that episode has the new photo in it, not the original one.

Penny looks different in the picture, not just her shirt color. Her head is tilted differently and it doesn't even look like the same girl so that makes sense.

Again LOGAN42 is the man. I was reading what you were all saying and (( seeing as that i am working in the biz, and an EDITOR... )) that is best explained by a continuity error. especially if there was recasting. Continuity errors are ultimately the editors problem as he has his hands on the footage. soetimes there is nothing you can do. So if the woman was recast.. OH well. you can NOT go back to already aried episodes and change them...


The producers say that there is no time travel that includes a rift in the time space continuium. You are saying, it took him getting hit with a baeball bat to shift correct? NO. doesnt make sense.

I can't tell if its just their mistake or if its a clue. Hmm?
