Jack and Hugo saved Charlie from death.

Charlie was hung and Jack had to do CPR to bring him back.

After Hugo crossed a rickety bridge Charlie tried to cross and almost fell to his death. (when Hugo was looking for "French Chick")

Don't forget the fact that he was an avid Heroin user...

also remember, the caves that collapsed, no wait, no one intervened! unless u count that moth when he was trapped in there with jack, although i doubt the moth was in on it

True Charlie has had a few close encounters but so have the other losties... Jack saved Hurley from being blown along with the hatch, Sawyer was shot, I can't think of any more of the top of my head but I know almost dying is kind of a common occurence on the island. They cannot kill Charlie....
