Desmond

Wow what an insane episode.

There are some things I noticed throughout the episode. There has been a lot of notions towards the fact that Penelope's father is in on the whole island ordeal. He seems to randomly ask Desmond during the interview if he has had any military experience...

Similar to the old lady it is a possibility that he knew Desmond would pass that military recruiter and see the poster about "Becoming a great man" or whatever after being owned by him. Which kind of makes me believe that he wants Desmond to join the military to continue on his path to the island.

Also it seems possible that Desmond knew about everything that would happen on the island but why change things if they are meant to happen anyway right?

Also go back to Charlie singing wonderwall when desmond came up to him. Its ironic that Desmond is actually his wonderwall for obvious reasons. Could that mean Desmond will have to keep saving Charlie or is that just a reference to the hatch... maybe im looking too deep

i dont think pennys father was in on it like that jewlery woman, i think it was put in there to show what time line it is, that it was before he joined the army and that possibly he joined the army because of that comment, in the real reality not just the flashback, u gotta remember that flash back was also still a flashback to help us learn more about him as well as been a mindf&%k episode.

lol cool, im crap with impressionism, i didn't even see the polar bear first time round, it just looked like a garbled mess to me, and the namaste ...although wat does that mean, also that statue thats upside down, n e thing to do with the foot that was found on the island?

i thought that the statue looked alot like John Locke... Then the polar bear and NAMASTE! At first I thought It was the mural in the one hatch.

I'm still trying to wrap my brain around this episode. Desmond has been able to see the future since before he got on the island? or he went back in time and is reliving his life? when locke blew open the hatch and we first met desmond, didn't he say something like 'bout time you guys showed up' or something... ?

I think he only gets Flashes of the other life, so he may not know everything that is happining..

Namaste is a Hindu greeting (usually accompanied with a bow). It means "The Divine in me greets the Divine in you." It could also mean "the Spirit in me recognizes the same Spirit in you." It certainly refers to the interconnectivity of all life.

In the Lost Experience game last summer, the word Namaste was used a lot.

widmore is definitely in on the island somehow. it is possible his company built it. It is also possible he indireclty causes desmond to get sent there and lost... that way Penny can marry a real man.

BUT THEY USE IT SINCERELY.... I dont think widmore's spirit recognizes the same spirit in desmond. Instead he dopes the exact opposite... IE NAMASTE backwards! the anti namaste... means my spirit looks down upon yours or somethiing similar.... very important...

The polar bear and the mountans and the man upside down in the painting are also curious.
