I dont think its as much him seeing the future as much as him just being ABLE to see more of the world and its goings on which alow him to sense ( 6th sense, esp, yadda yadda) things other people cannot.

There are many representations of Buddha in varsious poses. I have poctures in thalaind next to one lying down, one sitting and there are some standing.

I wonder if the foot is facing outward if it was originally a statue like the statue of liberty that faces out to see ether warning people or calling them forth.

I was really confused/disappointed with this episode. I expected to see what actually happened to the hatch and have some closure, the hatch was a massive part of season 2, and now they have just written it off with any real explanation.

I think that what we seen was all in Desmonds head, it did happen before he came to the island..but this was him dreaming it again with the knowledge that he was on the island and he did push the buttons etc...but that doesn't explain why he can now suddenly see into the future.

It's kind of like Charlies dream where people on the island and part of his life back home were part of the baby jesus' birth scene, and Lockes dream about having to find ecko.

First of.... read the posts above about the cognitive and possible psychic abilities our brains dont utilize. That is where your explanation will logically come from on why desmond sees more than others...

Oh and charlie wasnt dreaming... that was a heroin flashback. he was tripping out on the beach... envisioning the virgin mary ( his drugs)

no other dreams or flashbacks on the island have been anything like that.

True!! I forgot about that.

It just seems to me that we all dream and our subconciousness will throw in things that may have happened that day..or years ago..or both! I just felt like thats what was happening to Desmond.

It was also good to see him drunk, i'm also a scotsman so its always fun to hear his accent, especially when he slurrs his words..its spot on!!

serious.... loed them drinking and singing... no i agree... but he and locke and echo were somehoe expelled form the hatch. and i think that thier proximity to that event caused an awakening in thier minds. Locke and ecko have both also exhiitted extrasensory abilities...

Obviously Ecko knew his faith and was now a complete person ( ie he had accomplished his goal or character arc ) and so he is now moved on Ie was ready to die.. Locke and Des still have things to do. they are important to the survival of our group. and thier awakenings have filled them with a new power to do whats right...

the dude from the training videos always ended with:
"thank you and NAMASTE"

I think when Desmond had that flashback of his life he was remembering he could've did something else. And he wouldn't be where he was today. But he did it anyway. He still made the same choice.

Then I remember Desmond saying to Locke 'see you in another world brother' I thought that was weird.

Desmond creeps me out. And the whole time I thought Claire was supposed to die. But it was Charlie.

LOST is so copying off of Final Destnation. Don't you think.

Dreams are the release of thoughts in your subconience... Desmond was flashing back and forth because he wanted to feel as if he does have some contol over his fate... This is the best I can come up with

Benmer, when you flipped that image, it made me think...I'm more than ever convinced that the "flashback" was all in Des's head - no time travel involved. The first shot in Widmore's office is a wide shot, and Des is clearly sitting in the right-hand chair, with the model boat and whiskey on Des's right. But when they show the first shot of the painting, Des is sitting the left-hand chair, and the painting is on his right - what happened to the whiskey and the boat? In later shots, the boat and whiskey are back on the right, and the painting is on the left...you really need to watch this scene again, if you can. The room definitely flips throughout the scene, which makes me think the whole thing is happening in Des's head, as the details keep changing.

You are so right. I watched that scene again and that's what it did. It was proabably all in Des's head. But that still doesn't explain his physic ability. That is a mystery.
