Very nice work inverting the image.
How about this? I flipped it to get a better look at the "man upside down." It looks like a Bhuddist or Hindu statue to me. That fits with the "Namaste." If "Namaste" written backwards reverses its meaning, then what does the upside-down Bhudda mean?

You know... i wonder if the statue is the top half of the 4 toed foot we seen on the island.

The buddha statue was in the brainwashing film that carl was watching. Was desmond ever brainwashed in the room and somehow that was flashing back to him? Was the whole scene just exactly like desmond said - I have a concussion and the woman was his conscienceness trying to wake him up? That would explain the familiar images he kept seeing. Could that be more plausible than time travel (which I am not totally ruling out, although I thought someone said that the producers said something like everything on the show can be scientifically explained or something to that effect) It's nice to have some off-island episodes where people can look cleaned up and stuff. I lends itself to the notion of a world-wide secret quazi-organization doing all kinds of crazy things.

yeah... i liked being in the real world too. it was cool to think that for this episode they flew to london from HAWAIII!!!!! talk about the other side of the world....!!! Thats quote a fun shoot to be a part of.

And i am going to london in march so it was very cool to see it.... its like I am part of the LOST story now...

Namaste means "hello" in hindi. I qoute wikipedia:

yup... and widmore was doing the exact opposite to des in his office.

I think the statue in the painting would have it's legs crossed, and not standing with those strappy shoes like our guy "four toes".

I think, well I think I think, that when Desmond fell off the ladder, he had a vision. He dreamed about his future. Then he woke up and everything felt like dejavu for him. He knows what is going to happen because of that dream that day. Oh, yeah I just confused myself.

He would only know what happened in the dream then, wouldn't be able to adjust for things he changes like saving charlie from lightning and then the next time from drowning...

He dreamed about the past after the hatch blew him nakedly through the jungle and knocked him out. So why does he continue to see the future? And his crazy flashback dream ended when he got hit in the head at the bar....
