Bernard Nadler
Bernard Nadler is a tail section survivor of the crash of Oceanic Flight 815 and the husband of Rose. He is the only tail section survivor that has not been killed, captured, or assimilated in to the Others. He wasn't seated in the tail section, and was only there when the plane crashed because he was using the bathroom then. Bernard cares very much for Rose and feels a need to fix things, like her cancer, not dissimilar to Jack.

Well i dont see how anyone can make judement calls on what feelings or thoughts the black smoke has.
on top of it being pretty much expressionless... there are few other things that we can see from it to tell what its feelings or thoghts are.
sure it beat ecko to the ground, but it also used to explode through the ground, grab people, and other such random acts of violence...
ecko's mind and spirit were finally free when he told yemi... in his imagination, that he had no regrets...
it was time for him to end his journey on the island...
Smokey just helped that out.

I don't understand your argument Benmer007 - first you say it is expressionless, but then you say it performs random acts of violence. YOU are suscribing the term violence. You can't have it both ways, especially since you do not know the smoke monster's purpose (or motivation?) I'm just saying if your opinion (no proof ;it's just what you think) is that he doesn't have feelings, my opinion is that it can at least manufacture feelings when it's in the shape of Yemi. He doesn't talk in a monotonous tone like a robot. Yemi's brow furrows and his inflection goes down and his tone becomes stronger when he says, "You talk to me as if I was your brother." Those are natural facial expressions and inflections when anyone becomes angry. Now that doesn't mean that I think it is the smoke monster itself that has emotion. It could be whoever is controlling the smoke monster's feeling and emotions coming through the Smokey. Think of the Great and Powerful Oz and the man behind the curtian.

Oh and i don't think smokey would go to the funeral either. Unless Smokey is like a spyglass or periscope or something and whoever is controlling it can see through the smoke monster, and maybe was spying on the Others or listening in on the Others

Right... if someone is controlling the mosnter then yes. it directly would go to that persons emotions... you are still assuming that the smoke became Yemi and learned to speak... and then switched back to fist form smoke to do the death dealing...
i still think that Yemi was all in ecko's head. Just like when Locke saw ecko talk but that was in his head... The smoke just does what it does.... kill fools... we havent seen it do anything esle, except stalk fools its going to kill...

oh okay - I see where our disagreement lies. I didn't understand that you think eko was hallucinating Yemi. I think the smoke monster is a "shape shifter" I think that's where our trouble is!
when you typed "u" up above on your last post, where you saying I'm a fool and the smoke monster's after me? (sniff, sad) then(Yikes! scared of Smokey)

Haha, why hello there. Oh I posted a thread about the Blast Door Map if you're still interested.

That's a good point, I hadn't personally given that a lot of consideration. If Smokey is indeed a shape-shifter, the only rational way that it could learn how to communicate would be for it to have a programmable "mind" that would enable it to communicate through some form of word recognition.
Otherwise it would have to be speaking to Eko in his head, like telepathy. Of course, there is a strong chance that Eko merely hallucinated Yemi and Smokey was there waiting for him, perhaps knowing that Eko's hallucinations would lead him to it.
