Default The Bodies

So where do the dead bodies keep disappearing to?
Taken by the monster? The Others maybe?

Have any of the losties ever had anyone with them when their loved one was suddenly "missing" ? Eko was alone when he went into the airplane to look at his brother the second time. When he discovered he was missing, did anyone like John or Desmond double check? (I can't recall. I remember John stating the fire could have destroyed the body, but I thought that was before Eko went into the plane.)

If no one else was there to witness a body being there one time and gone the next, could it all be a figment of the imagination? A play on the conscience?

Well Charlie saw the body too, remember when Eko cried over him. Yeah I remembered because Eko drooled a little, I mean its no big deal. But it stood out to me very much.

It's a bit odd that we have seen a couple of bodies that have been there for a while. Adam and Eve in the cave and the two from the drug plane. Why would Yemi's body go missing? Obviously Smokey can pick things up (Eko trees ect.) so I'm inclined to think it's Smokey.
Long shot here. Maybe Smokey used whatever DNA was left to become the solid image of Yemi. It also makes me rethink first season when Jack went looking for his father and flipped out about the empty coffin. He did follow what he thought was his dad out there. They have yet to tell us for sure that he did or didn't manage to get him on the plane. Was Smokey responible for that too. Oops! I was going to answer the question and I gave myself a buch more to ponder. My head hurts.

Well, he did get his father onto the plane. That's why there was a coffin on the island in the wreckage.

I'm not sure about that. It seemed like there were laws agenst it. The lady he spoke to seemed very serious about the fact that it would not happen. Maybe he took the empty coffin and the body would be sent on after. If he had the coffin they could have a closed casket service, and then wait on the burial. I could be wrong. I have been before.

I don't think I worded my question correctly...
So, Charlie was there when the body was found the first time, did anyone other that Eko witness the body being missing when he came back the second time? I guess I'm wondering if Eko just could not "see" Yemi....
