There is some true and obvious discord between her and Ben that occurs when they are alone that leads me to believe that she really does want him dead. The part that I don't believe is her offering Jack protection once Ben is dead. I think she doesn't really care all that much, and will discard Jack dead or alive after he has carried out her plan.

What I immediatley thought of when Ben and Juliet were talking on the beach, was that Ben was upset that they showed the X-Rays too soon...that it threw a monkey wrench into their plans. I think that Ben knows about the video, and his "confession" to Jack about the plans they had to break him was a way of getting Jack to buy in to what they're selling. I'm still not sure that the whole tumor thing is real...and the video makes me think that even more. It just seems like it's a test to see what Jack will do.

One of the recent recurring themes of the show being 'free will' (or the illusion of it, as I'd like to call), I think Juliet's tape could well be part of the act she arranged with Ben, to get Jack want to perform the surgery. Having found out about Juliet's murder plan (I don't like her a bit), Jack would be all the more willing to become the 'life-saving hero' he is (no offense Jack-lovers) , do the operation in the hope of finding a bargain for Kate and Sawyer out of it (of course he would refuse to be the killing hand) and alas , end up doing it 'at his owned (fooled) will.

Okay I'm going to go against everyone else. I bet I'm going to look like a fool when I'm totaly wrong but, I think Juliette is upest and tierd of the B.S. that Ben has created. She said there are no leaders. That may be how they started out but, Ben has taken a position of power. She is also a doctor. A Vet yes but, she shares that with Jack. We don't know enough about what happened to the Other's to know for sure what she is being motivated by. There is a part of me that believes Juliette is trying to make changes to what she sees as a fawed and dangerous situation. The first time we see her she looks sad and appears to be working herself into a good mood. Even the music she's listening to "Down town." said she's unhappy. I think she will end up being an a good person. I hope I don't make a total idiot of myself.

what if Ben and Juliet decided to take a bet on this 'free-will' thing, which they obviously don't agree on, as it was made clear in the season's first episode ("I guess I'm out of the book club"). Looks to me just as plausible that each took the role/position of the other (Ben, acting as if he wants Jack's free will to operate and remember Juliet appeared optimistic of free will in "Tale of Two Cities" while Juliet acting as a manipulative force on Jack's decision, which would be a cunning move we'd expect more from Ben by now) This sort of betting in reverse position to keep it 'fair' and entertaining is quite an old and often visited theme of classical literature and story-telling (1001 arabian nights etc). It also explains the rivalry between Ben and Juliet as well. What do you say?
