So one theory of what took place in this most recent episode is that Yemi was not Yemi, instead he was Smokey. Smokey took from Eko the shape size and voice of Yemi. When Eko gave his confession smokey did not approve of his answer so smokey admitted that he was not his brother. Then the smoke took it a step further and killed poor Eko.

So do you think that Smokey took the shape of Yemi? And do you think that Smokey has done it before with Christian when he appeared to Jack? Was walt using Smokey when he appeared to Shannon?

If we had any visual proof that Smoky was near the Walt/Shannon incident I could lean that way.
But it sure seemed like Smoky was Yemi.

And like I said in chatting I think Smokey's shapeshifting ablity changes EVERYTHING. Now we don't know if people are the real deal or being deceived by Smokey. Did Kate really see a black horse in the jungle or was it the smoke monster spying on her? Was Dave the smoke monster? Ana-Lucia appearing to Eko after she was shot? And where did Cindy go, didn't she just vanish into the jungle right before Shannon was shot? Was Joanna the smoke monster trying to lure someone out into the water to drown - didn't Boone almost drown (if Jack hadn't saved him?)

I'm not sure about Walt. I do think that almost all the other strange appearances were Smokey. Did anyone else notice that Smokey make the weird criket like sound as smokey but, if it was solid it was silent?

Interesting theory. I could accept Smokey appearing as people who were dead, but not ones that are still alive - like Walt appearing to Shannon.

As I said in another tread , when Jack found his dad's coffin it was empty , no body . and when Echo went looking for Yemi in the plane , no body .... so who/what was appearing to them and who/what were they chasing ? I don't buy the shapeshifting theory just yet .

Walt might have been smokey when he appeared to shannon. Walt would go, "shhhhhh" and that little boy last night from Eko's past (daniel?) said, "shhhhh" to Eko when he was seeing the men he macheted.

And yes, I noticed that Smokey made a growling or purring like sound when it was just smoke, but when it took form it could even talk (yemi).
