Bernard Nadler

Bernard Nadler is a tail section survivor of the crash of Oceanic Flight 815 and the husband of Rose. He is the only tail section survivor that has not been killed, captured, or assimilated in to the Others. He wasn't seated in the tail section, and was only there when the plane crashed because he was using the bathroom then. Bernard cares very much for Rose and feels a need to fix things, like her cancer, not dissimilar to Jack.

Default Frustrated?

The first two seasons of Lost were, in my opinion, the greatest first two seasons of any show I've witnessed. Don't get me wrong, I'm still madly obsessed with this show and will see it to its end, but I'm really getting frustrated by some things in Season 3.

For one, this is starting to turn into a season of "Touched By an Angel." The whole supernatural appearance of the island has dominated this season and it's getting annoying. Give some practical solutions to what the hell is going on! Otherwise, there's no point in figuring the show out using logic and reason because it looks like (especially after this episode) that it's all about religion and stuff. I'm definitely not atheist or anything but it's getting tiring. Yawn. Cheesy.

Agree? Disagree? Agree to disagree?

Hi Soccerfreak, welcome. Tonights show was quite a mixed bag and had more religious and supernatural overtures then we have seen in this season so far. Last season, I think it was the episode where Charlie was trying to baptize Claire's baby that was the most slanted that way. I am with you in being more inclined to find more sci-fi types of storylines believable than the supernatural/religious stuff.
I am hoping that things are going to come full circle, tonights episode did cause me a little more confusion. I guess I will have to watch it some more and read what the people on this board have picked up that I might have missed.

I think the show has a good mix of issues and subjects: adventure, romance, spiritual and supernatural matters...rare is the show that can pull it off.

Great point, I totally agree. But how do you reconcile the spiritual with the reasonable? If this show manages to pull THAT off, I would be royally impressed. That's why we keep watching!

I thought the episode was outstanding, but I'm bummed about Eko.

I did realize that when "Walt" appeared a few times last season in places where he wasn't supposed to be, that it was probably the Monster and not some remote projection thing. The producers did say we saw the Monster several times last season but didn't know what we were seeing. It was trying to aid Shannon but she was a little too dumb to get it and she was shot. It appeared as Jack's father, as Yemi, as Hurley's buddy Dave.

It is certainly not helping the Losties!

I believe that most of it truly is scientific, but has been programmed in such a way as to "imitate" religion, or to put it another way to put the fear of God into the people on the Island. It is supposed to be some sort of security system after all.

It certainly is a vengeful bastard...

Interesting point. The supernatural has such a great effect on the human mind. What security!

So - when the producers said we've probably already seen the Monster and didn't know it, were they talking about Smokey?

After this episode, I would say that is pretty much confirmed.

I am pretty sure that the Bible say's something like. "If you do not beleive in God it does not matter to Him. He still knows that He is God."
I think that is what I like about this show. People are looking for God or something to make sense in their lives. Ben beleives that God sent him a Doctor to save him. That "proves" God to him.
For some people all they need is to see the complexity of a flower.
I have a feeling that if people don't want to hear about God then you better find another show. All through recorded history ALL good stories have involved God.
