I think it is odd that Rose was healed from her Cancer/Tumors, John Locke can walk after needing a wheelchair. And Jin could be get Sun preggo (I know this one has doubts) after landing on the Island.

It would seen that the Island does not heal people who are born there.

I am pretty sure, that Ben would not be able to kick the **** out of sawyer with a large tumor on his spinal cord. Or move as he does. even the slightest would pend one useless, and in great pain.

Well it could be the case that the island stops the tumor's growth or slows it. The tumor could also have cut off some of Henry Gale's sense of feeling, so his being beaten is nothing for him.

I said in another post... henry gale was probably brought there as a baby for his condition and then now is the elder of the others...



no i think it does something for everyone... we dont know who was born there or who just doesnt remember life before the island...

As to whether they are on the "island of healing," I don't think we know where their homes were before the Losties came. The screen capture posted a while back seemed to show it on the same island as the two main crash sites. The Others may now be on an adjacent island, or they may be on the end of the same island; remember it was Henry/Ben that told Sawyer the other island was his original location and I don't trust a thing that he says.

I think the secret may lie in the way the Losties and Others have been segregated on the island. The "healing force" may only be present on the end of the island where the Losties are. It may end where the black rock line of demarcation is. I think it's also possible that the "smoke monster" or force of whatever kind it is may not be a threat to the Losties but a definite threat to the Others, which is why they go past the black rock only in small groups or alone and don't roam freely there.

It may also be that the healing force on the island only works on those that are there against their will since it seems the Others are perfectly happy being there. If they weren't, they'd have used their boat to seek rescue long ago.

The Australian faith healer said that not everyone can be healed where he was, so maybe not everyone can be healed on the island? It may just not be the spot for Ben.

I agree that the island does not rid you of what ails you. It controls it, keeps it in remission of some sort. If locke and rose leave the island their conditions will return to what they were before the crash. That is why Ben cannot leave the island, unless he can get a surgeon to remove the tumor first.
