Ana-Lucia Cortez

Ana-Lucia Cortez was an ex-police officer who sat in the tail section of Flight 815 when it crashed. She took a leadership role in the group and led her party across the Island, reuniting them with the rest of the passengers. Ana was known to be very emotionally cold and her background in policing helped her with her leadership role. Ana-Lucia survived on the Island for 65 days before being shot and killed by Michael.

I don't know if it's as much as good versus bad...

Seems to me the connecting theme of the characters (so far) is that they all have been betrayed by others, or they have been the betrayers of others.

But, with betrayal also comes redemption.

So..... Is it the betrayal that the island seeks out, or is it the redemption that the character has achieved???????

The earlier point QueenBsteph made about Locke's second leg injury is my favorite so far. and it affect most of the other one, because Locke did get hurt bad by the blast doors. (and once with Boone)
But he healed fast, especially after he talked to Rose! She renewed his faith and he threw the crutches away.

So after 21 post and over 300 readings of this post I am more confused then when I asked.

Knowing how this show works from the preview it appears that Jack is telling Ben that he has a tumor but in reality i bet you it's someone you wouldnt expect. Maybe sawyer? Maybe they took the x-rays while they had him strapped on the table. Who knows??

I totally agree...I don't believe that tumor is Ben's. It's too much of a coincidence that they would have it out for Jack to see. I think that is a test for Jack....what will he do when he has the power to save or end Ben's life? I believe that this will be Jack's initiation to join the Others.

This is my fist post but, I have been reading what everyone has to say about "healing powers" of the island, etc. IMO, I dont think that the island has any healing powers. I think it all has to do with the various levels/strengths of magnetis/electromagnetic fields. (if this has been stated before... sorry)

There has been many studies done on the "healing powers" of magnetic fields. In low levels, magnetic fields have claimed to speed healing, help with pain control, and increase blood flow. In high levels, magnetic/electric fields have been blamed for causing cancer/lukemia in children that live near power lines/towers and have altered dna in lab animals.

I think that all of the "healing" or "not healing" that is going on is a direct result of exposure to magnetic/electromagnetic fields and distance from those fields. The close you are or the longer the exposure, the more adverse effects.... just my thoughts....

There are many good websites on healing powers of low level magnetic fields and also on adverse effects of overexposure to magnetic /electromagnetic fields....

What if it is Sawyers x-ray. Ben is very tricky. He may just be playing along with the whole tumor scenerio to see what Jack would do. Then again, Jack would be doing surgery on the tumor and would obviously know whos he doing surgery on. So itsmost likey Bens tumor and Ben probally cant leave the island until it gets taken care of.

Nothing on the island is quite comparable to anything in the 'outside world' but let's keep in mind that same medicine can both be a good drug and a bad drug, the cure and the poison without contradiction (ex: chemotheraphy or radiotheraphy) My point is: could not the exceptional power of the island-magnetism, just as well lead to anomaly in cell growth, aka tumor formation? If longer exposure to this magnetism could trigger such an effect, it makes all the sense that someone born and lived on the island all his life (like Ben claims to be) would be harmed sooner or later.. What do you say?
