However Desmond knew that lightning was going to strike Claire's tent. I think it was right to just do something about it then try to tell them and get everybody thinking he was a nut. I don't really know what is going on with him,because he knew about the lightning ,but not a bout Eko's death. Weird- Cool- I don't know,but I still love him.

I first thought Desmond was trying to set up a little accident to convince Claire of his presence or something, but it doesn't make sense to attempt doing that with a golf club-paratoner Considering how he knew of Locke's speech before it happened, I'd say Desmond is bestowed with a little gift after his services for the island

I agree, I think Desmond was trying to do the right thing without having to tell them what he saw it happening. He tried getting her to move ,but when that was shot down he had to find another solution and apparently it worked.

See, I think Desmond did know about Eko's death.

So you think that Desmond knew about Eko's death,but decided not to say anything. I don't think that sounds like him. He acted when Claire and Aaron were in danger so why would he zip lip about Eko if he saw him dying. I think he's more caring than that.

I think that it's quite intriguing how Desmond can now predict the future, because if it turns out that one can alter the future it eliminates the possibility of a pre-determined 'destiny', yet Desmond and indeed many other people on the Island believed that it was fate/destiny that brought them to the Island.

So it depends on whether Desmond 'saw' Claire getting struck by lightning or whether he saw himself prevent it from happening, because if he saw them get struck by lightning, he must have altered what he had seen, by constructing a lightning conductor. But if he saw himself prevent the lightning strike, then he is simply fufilling his destiny.

Relating this to whether he saw Eko die or not, that too would depend on how he sees the future. If he see's a pre-determined fate then he would have known that there would be nothing he or anyone else could have done for Eko.
However, if he sees an indeterminate future (one that may be altered by decisions and events) then he would have known that perhaps Eko could have been saved.

Perhaps the little details behind his apparent precognitive capabilities will be made clear to us later on in the season.

we tend to think that if you're a clairvoyant or have any supernatural ability, it would be omnipotent and nothing would escape from it. If that's the case why not asking if Desmond knows about Jack's (possible) operation of Ben. Maybe he can predict the end of the show, even

Maybe Desmond did see Echo's death , but knew that there is no way to stop smokie, therefore could not help change that outcome . He has been on the Island a lot longer than the losties so he is bound to know more about all that stuff. If I were Hurley I'd ask him about stuff he knows...
