This is my first post. When Desmond "first" met Jack in the sports stadium, Jack told him that he (Jack) had promised to heal a patient but that he had failed. Desmond responded, "But what if you did?" He seemed to have seen the future then, too. He tells Jack that he will see him in another life.

I have a weird theory. In the book THE ONCE AND FUTURE KING, the reason Merlin can predict the future is because he has already lived it. Merlin lived his life backwards. Could Desmond be living backward?

If he knew his entire future, then he would know precisely when to read his book. So is that why he did not read the book? Because he knew it was not his time to die?

Or do you mean that this newfound talent of his has just started?
