However, it seems Juliet has betrayed her people and joined the survivors in wanting off the island.

If the hatch imploded, then how did the quarintine door fall from the sky in the second season after the *%#@ hit the fan? I dont think it was an implosion.

Here's another thing that I was wondering about... why was Desmond the only one who was naked? If he had been disrobed by the im/explosion, should Locke have been nekkid too?

It all seems fishy to me... there is definately something going on that we're not seeing.

Then again, that's why it's LOST. You never get the answers to a question when you want them. You generally have to wait half a season...

It does seem strange that the losties on the beach didn't seem to notice the hatch blowing up. Wouldn't that mean that everything in the hatch is gone now? No more hot showers, washer and dryer, ping pong table, record player, weapons, food storage, cozy bunkbeds.... Wouldn't they be more concerned????

Bernard and some others saw the hatch door itself, but they just looked at it, they I guess did not really think much of it.

okay...so, maybe its just me...but does no one else remember the hatch door from the season 2 finale? The losties on the beach had the "Quaritine" door fly out of nowhere and slam into the sand.

I have come to two conclusions about this as of last season:
1: The Hatch DID in fact explode...which would explain how the hatch door ended up all the way on the beach flying through the air.

2: The release of the electromagnetic energy somehow "pushed" (for lack of a better word) the door into the air. Like if you try to touch equal sides of a magnet together, they push away from each other. The realease of all that magnetic energy therefore would PUSH the door into the air.

In either case, the position of the Implodies/Explodies still needs to, and for sure will be explained at some point. Its just a matter of time...the producers wouldn't just leave it where its at. No worries there.

On the other side of the explosion argument, you still face the fact that the whole appears to be an outward thrust of energy. I've worked professionally with explosives for a few years...the whole is characterisitc of an EXplosion, not an IMpolosion. (on a sidenote...all of this "impolosion talk" is based comepltely off of what Locke said in passing to Charlie...just so everyone realizes that).

Implosions underground tend to SINK the ground where as explosions underground tend to push the earth away (as can be seen in the screen shot)

Maybe your right, afterall I do not know enough about explosions to add a intelligent opinion. But yeah, I did react with "Well if Locke said so." because goldie Lockes seems like he would know about that sort of thing.

The hole we saw was the "shaft" that Kate,Locke and Jack got into the hatch..Ecko blew that up with a stick of dinamite..The "hatch" where the beds, washer and such was locked dowh, behind thick blast doors that 1 dinimite stick could not budge! Hatch was magnetly imploded....The door was on the shaft, had already been damaged by Locke and Co..

well modern notions of physics aside.... when i have been in an imploding hatch on a magical island. i usually wake up with new found powers of psychic ability. lets not get ahead of ourselves and get too skeptical of what happened when the light hit.

I'll say this much. if i was on the beach and was a bit character who had yet to speak... i would sure as hell keep to myself. it seems everyone who wants to check out the hatch or put thier nose in other peoples business dies or gets hurt or captureed and then dies or makes out with a polar bear.

Point being. uses a lil imagination... we already can agree that physics and science as we know it are not entirely part of this island. That being said... when you turn a magic key you get teleported...

nuff said.

Locke mentioned that the hatch imploded briefly to charlie in the jungle. So it could have easily been an explosion, how does locke know? what if it was a time warp of some sort (as someone else has mentioned). who knows. it must be something fishy. How on earth did they make it out of the hatch. He did turn that key right. jeesh. that key is what we need answers for.
