I was then thinking they may have heard the plane and were looking towards the sky for that reason too. I live by a small airport and you hear the small planes let alone the corporate jets pretty clearly. Sometimes the big boys fly over and they are very high and still rather loud- so a plane at that height would be heard. But they did come out looking up.

I guess that was not how I interpreted things...I thought that Dharma was trying to change the equation (through several different ways, parts of which were on the island) to save humanity in some way, but that Dharma failed...they couldn't find any way to change the factors of the equation...so they had to resort to radical action, which is the virus. The virus was a last resort attept to save humanity by killing a third of them. As far as what the intent of the Others are, I'm still not sure what I think yet, but I do believe that the Others are not working towards the same ends as Dharma is/was...I keep coming back to Kelvin (who was a Dharma employee) calling them the "Hostiles" which implies the Others and Dharma are not on the best terms...

It looked to me that after the "earthquake" they all went outside and looked around first, then up to see if there was anything in the sky. I think they knew that the "earthquake" was the electromagnetic thing getting messed up and knew it may cause any nearby planes, balloons, ships, etc., to crash. Henry immediately sent Ethan and Goodwin to look for survivors and to report back to him in 3 days with a list of them.

That Scandalous SCANDALOUS (needed to be said twice) Henry Gale is thier Leader. They were waiting for him on the dock when Sawyer, Kate and Jack were tied up and captured at the end of last season. Hes their guy who makes all the big decissions.... obviously. The send that Lame-o Micheal to go get them and release Henry in exchange for his son. The never went to those lengths to get Ethan or Goodwin back...

When they all ran out of thier house they look up or around or whatever, but i would think that in most cases you might be looking up and around for falling trees or whatever. I think a whole city of people running around looking at ground or thier feet is a BLAND way to open the show. Besides how often have you all been in earthquakes... your running and looking out ahead of yourself, usually up if you are inside and dont want things to fall on your head, or need a doorway to take cover. whole bunch of people running around were already looking up and about as they left thier house. And yes Planes are loud. I bet those houses they live in are Thin and not sound proof ( which might explain the lack of children around... less procreating ) anywho... the only person that everyone looked to for something to do was Henry Gale

I hate him...

The last thing that henry gale wanted from the flight survivors was to know if they were OK or to help. He and the Others are thinking about themselves and thier twisted darker interests... and what they can do with the children and yadda yadda...

lets not forget the hospital area on the island... and the doc who was puting shots into the baby... TWISTED....

The Others never got a chance to retreve Ethan or Goodwin..both were killed by persons they had underestimated--as was the one Sun shot--
she kept telling Sun that they knew all about her,that she wouldn't shoot..Someone didn't get all the info..
