As to why their is no more Dharma food in the fridge is because it was abandoned by Ben's people and maybe most of the food was brought with them on the travels to the temple and at the temple.. I doubt Ben expected that some of the 815 survivors were going to end up living in the barracks after they left and do we really think they would have left them food anyway?
