Yeah, but he didn't know until the very end that she wasn't who she claimed to be. I think he had real feelings for her--he strokes her hair and closes her eyes when she's dead and later he's all shook up and weepy for the first time we've ever seen. Hard to know if she had real feelings for him. She turned vicious so quickly. Still though...I bet she could have easily shot him dead right on the spot if she had wanted to, rather than just shooting him in the arm.
In the end I don't know if it matters whether or not Elsa had real feelings for Sayid, just that he had them for her. It's important that no matter how many people he's killed he's still capable of being tender and vulnerable and to genuinely care for someone. The inner conflict is why his story remains interesting to me, just like with Kate, Jack, and basically everybody else.
