If you're talking about Elsa, he did kill Elsa. I'm a bit perplexed by your assumption about how love works. A person can have a lot of loves in one lifetime. It's not like each new one means the older relationships suddenly become insignificant in that person's life. Give the show some credit. It's layered like that. (Kate still cried over the death of her high school sweetheart years later.) And anyway, most Lost characters are too conflicted, untrusting, and self-destructive to NOT be in love with more than one person at a time.
