Jacob's shack appears to him, he sees Jacob or Christian or someone in there, he is one of the few that gets off the island, Charlie says "they need you" to him... I think that we are going to see our lovable Hurley becoming more of a leader type and find out he has some special role or connection to the island or something.

I think he just saw Locke. But I do like the way he has grown into a more complex character. And conning Sawyer in two different episodes (ping pong and the barbeque) were an interesting insight into how Hurley could work "behind the scenes."
I think Hurley represents the "caring heart" of the island.
