hmmm interesting. If you think about it, he could also mean the hero "twice over," meaning here is the hero again crashing and burning repeating the mistakes and destiny of his father. Jack was a hero, but now look at the life he is leading in the future flash forward. It seems to remind us an awful lot of his father (the successful doctor who saved people's lives fell to alcohol etc). Its another interesting way to look at it too.
